Has anybody used "through the wheel" straps to tie a Hellcat down on a transporter?
I heard the paint on the wheels is fragile & easily marred.

Don't do it. Use over the wheel straps. Or put t shirts between the straps and the wheel. I have done that before with other cars.

    Understood.
We would protect the paint by wrapping the straps with microfiber cloths (or t shirts).
Our enclosed trailer has a floor e-track/tire strap set-up in it, but we have a customer coming in to pick up his cat & he is planning on using through the wheel straps.

I did it, wrapped the straps with a cut up bath towel that was wrapped around the straps. Towed the car 100 miles, no issues with the wheels.

I used over the wheel strap bonnets and choker over the tire straps with my e-track open trailer. The wheel bonnets have extensions to keep the ratchets away from the car. Through the wheels....people have expressed their thoughts.

One of my concerns with the "through the wheel straps" was the possibility of the tires actually rotating (thereby loosening the straps) as the car "wriggled" around on the trailer floor.
Our strap dealer told me that placing rubber pads under the tires would greatly reduce that possibility.

His car, his responsibility, yes ? I transported mine on an open trailer over 150 miles on good and bad roads, along with a torrential rain storm through traffic, so I wanted the best hold down I could get. My dealer strongly advised against through the wheel straps, but different strokes for different folks.

Alacat, I must apologize ahead of time! I read your post, and even though I know it was a legitimate question, it made me think of the picture below and I was laughing at the keyboard. Made me squirt coffee out of my nose ... quite painful, I do not recommend it! LOL! Below my signature is the picture in question.

Here's the straps I'll be using. Bought the kit. There are removal/washable covers on the straps.

Yes. Enclosed trailer. Hauling vehicles each way. 1180 miles each way. Will chock tires also

Here's my kit. Ordered the straps at 16' so if I need them for something else I have them

Pro Pack with 40" Through-the-Wheel Straps (8 Foot)

Yeah. I have D-rings every 4' with backing plates. I used the trailer for work and wheeled carts. I have what resembles a rollbar that is removable. I pushed the carts against it and strapped them down. I was going to put tracking down and decided against it.
