I have a noticeable ticking noise (heard more from the passengers seat) when the engine is warm. Is this normal with the 392? It has 1400 miles on it and broken in. I never heard it until my son told me to turn off the A/C and radio….

    2015 SRT.

It happens on many hemi 5.7 and 6.4 (392) engines. Don't worry about it. Turn the radio back up. There are many many threads on another dot com fan site where they do a lot of challengertalk (ing). Around here, it's mostly Hellcat talk.

At least let the dealer hear it and Always Get It Documented!! So it is at least on record for future/maybe problems? o_O

Sometimes the Injectors make a ticking noise when the engine is running, happened on my Corvettes and Trucks as well... normally its an injector noise, if its louder... than it could be more serious issue like a Valve with a failing lifter etc..

Mine ticked too so I did some googling. I found many people that seemed to cure it by using certain oils. If your not caught up with the ridiculous API bs which actually hurts our motors these days with current offerings and I'm not here to debate oil API'S then consider trying Redline 0w-40 which Redline reccomends and stands behind for our 6.4 Hemis. It got rid of my tick and many others.

The ticking then has to be a hydraulic lifter tic for oil to solve the problem. You simply increased the viscosity of the oil creating greater hydraulic pressure to the lifter hence stopping the ticking noise. Typically thicker or higher viscosity oils make engines in general run quieter....JMHO..
