Any good spots to tie down on trailer. Going to haul the cat a few miles?

I'm not an expert, but I'm designing a trailer right now. (Atc) I'm having it built with versa track so I can do over the wheel tie downs. Looking forward to some replays from some seasoned haulers

I had a tough time getting mine home from the dealer in my enclosed trailer and its set up for cars.

the Challenger is a tough cookie to strap down on a trailer. IMG_0651.jpg

If you have a car hauler that is open use the wheel basket straps that go over the tire and ratchet down on two connections on the side. Basket on all 4 wheels, car suspension still has flex to help ease the load on the trailer suspension.

    Something like this...

Double Ratchet Side Mount Tire Strap

Any issue with rear trailer door angle approach as far as splitter spoiler clearance? I also intended on picking my car in an enclosed trailer and was hoping it wouldn't be an issue.

    yep

not a problem with the splitter my trailer has a large ( long ) door so it fit just fine on the ramp.

the tie downs were a huge pain

my trailer is extra tall with the beaver tail ramp so it cleared the splitter, but a basic enclosed car hauler like a US Cargo Brand may be a problem you need to watch it carefully when you load for the first time

I use xtra long axle straps and loop through the wheels(I have microfiber strap covers so as not to scratch them) and then crisscross the heavy duty ratchet straps from the axle straps and to the D-rings. If the trailer doesn't have an escape door on the drivers side, it's through the window you go. On the beavertail I have to use 2 2x6s where the beavertail meets the flap, place them under the rubber cushions and 2 on the other side of the hinge to save the splitter. The HC fills a trailer pretty good (very tight inside). Be careful with the beavertail door cables and your side view mirrors.

Here's what I've done. Get a set of ratchet straps with RTJ hooks on the end. Check ebay. About mid way under the door there are uni-body frame rails with a oval slot in them. Stick one of the J hooks in the slot, cross them, and go forward to your trailer hold down point. You'll need fairly long straps for this. In back, you can use much shorter straps. Take the J hook and put it through the upper suspension crossmember where the big holes are. Cross them to your trailer hold downs. The rear probably isn't ideal because your attaching to the cross member, but it's right where it bolts to the body so should be okay. Done deal.
