Do you mean a stall converter?

Yes a torque converter with a higher stall.

Umm performance. First mod I have done in every auto car I have owned. Every one of them picked up about a half second in the 1/4.

Well crud, was hoping these were starting to come around. May have to wait and let some others do some more R&D before I drop my coin on it. Looks like it will be 3.09's instead. I see you made the swap. Pick up a couple tenths in the 1/4 with the 3.09s?

3.09 well worth the money. Picked up .2 with gears. Now have a lower pulley, picked up another .15 but air was 3100 DA and track wasn't hooking. That's another question for a converter, without suspension work our tires are already at max traction. Another challenge for the tuners.

Yeh! Circle D in my 5.0 Mustang woke it up a 1/2 sec.

Yep Circle D in my 11 Camaro. Ran vigilante and yank in my older F-bodies and all of them were good for a half second. $ for $ best mod you can usually do to an auto beside maybe nitrous. Although these NAG converters aren't as cheap as the others. You can pick up a good GM converter for under $700.

From other postings doesn't seem that the converter is where the focus has been for performance. I haven't read/heard anything yet on tranny/converter shortfalls keeping the times from decreasing..Factory seems to have done a pretty decent job in this category.

drive shafts, tires, gears...then pullies and tune...fuel delivery

Cars won't leave over 1100 RPM without pushing the front tires?? That's definately calling for higher stall if you can plant it or driveline will hold up!

The converters being installed by a few members are just re vamped OEM units, not racing units and I haven't seen any real data yet showing any improvement over the OEM or if there is any interference with the trans electronics, IMO there are better things to spend money on.

That's what I am getting from the vendors I spoke with today. Basically moding the internals of the OEM unit. You don't get the same advantages as a true aftermarket purpose built race converter which will generally be smaller, lighter veined differently and stall higher. The 2 Places I spoke with said they were seeing 1-2 tenths, not the half second gains. Not worth the expense and effort at this point.

I'm glad you chimed in Buck, I have nothing against trying things, heaven knows how many different things we have done, good and bad, but feed back is important so people don't waste their time or money .
