Dad purchased the 'Goat' shortly after I enlisted in the Navy in Dec. 1990. I was fortunate enough to see the car while home on leave in '92 but didn't have the opportunity to go for a ride with him at that time. It was the 'dream car' he couldn't afford back in high school; a beautifully restored red two-door convertible with a white interior, Hurst wheels and optional lap belts. I recall he even had the 'GR-RRR' license plate on the front bumper. The next time I saw my father he had since undergone a double bypass and sold the car for $7k at a local auction in anticipation of medical expenses...$7k! This was in late '92 or early '93...
Fast forwarding to today my father is now 72 years young so for his 73rd birthday next May, I'd like to reconnect him with his old 'Goat'.

Sometime in the early 2,000's dad gave me all his literature from the car to include the factory Body & Chassis manuals along with a few brochures. My goal is to track down the current owner and coordinate a visit whereby dad can present him/her with the factory manuals that I believe "belong with the car". If we're lucky maybe the owner will let dad drive the car one more time...

I hope that a fellow HC member can help me track down the Goat & it's current owner. I've already tried a general search on-line but with no luck. The VIN is 237375P223627.

Many thanks in advance for your time & assistance...!

You may want to contact the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI). They have a monthly magazine and website were you could post your search for that GTO by VIN. Good luck with your search - nice gesture indeed.

Thanks...I called and spoke with Don Bougher, the founding member of the POCI. I've since joined the club and will advertise my search through the forum and monthly publication. Hopefully with 9k+ members someone will be able to help me find that "Goat"... Thanks again-

Perhaps...maybe there's an FBI database with a registry of cars? I wish I know of someone in LE that could assist...

I've tried the state DMV where I think it was last registered but since I'm not the registered owner I was turned away... I don't think carfax can process a 13-digit vin.

There is a Pontiac GTO car forum like this one on the web. That is the best place to start. There is also a Pontiac national registry That can help you track the car.

It is a felony in most states for an officer to "run" a tag or VIN for non law enforcement purposes.

Grace and favor that your father believes in and practice will bring it home.
