Actually made the trade last week and have been lurking here since then. Thought I was set with a new 2016 Redline Red M6 SRT 392 purchased a few months ago but could not resist the offer to buy a B5 Blue A8 HC. I should have gotten the HC first but like many I was not going to pay any markup over MSRP and dealers here were not budging. Anyway, looking forward to the Hellcat and A8!

Hello, and welcome from Georgia! Grtz on the new Hellcat, I have always liked B5 Blue, almost as much as Plum Crazy. Post some pictures when you can, we'd love to see them. Don't feel bad about trading so soon ... I am picking my 2016 PCP Challenger HC tomorrow, after trading in my 2015 Redline Challenger HC. We have company, as there are quite a few forum members that have traded for what they really wanted. :)

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new HC. I think your decision to trade up to the top of the food chain was a good one! You will love the power and pure thrill of driving that beast...

Congrats and welcome from upstate NY. I am very happy for you and you will never look back.
Did you post earlier abt thinking abt trading your 392 because I remember a similar thread. I posted that I thought you should do it if the deal was right. Regardless of that, rock on and lord hates a chicken my friend. Good luck and be safe

I had thought about doing the same thing, but the monetary loss doing so I cannot fathom ATM. How much of a hit did you take trading in the 392 for the HC?

lol...I got up to leave twice but after the back and forth we both gave in and I felt like the trade price was fair. I had my car for a few months and ended up losing about 3k on it. My biggest hurdle was getting them to drop the ADM of 20k. I crunched the numbers at home before going to the dealer and figured I needed to be at invoice to swing the trade but I settled on MSRP when I got them a little higher on my trade than I expected.

Oh wow only 3k? Damn that really isn't bad at all. In my head I'm thinking I'd lose out on significantly more if I tried trading mine in. At least 10k plus I'm assuming. In addition, I've done a ton of cosmetic changes to the car already adding up to around 1k if not a bit more. Maybe in the future I can trade this beast in, but for now I am happy with what I have. Congrats on the trade :D

Congrats. Only losing 3k is amazing. I lost 8k trading my 15 SRT. I first looked at trading the SRT when it was 3 months old and the dealer offered me a 13k hit on my trade and a ADM of 20k. Needless to say I walked and waited.

Did you buy both cars from the same dealership?

No I gave up my search for about 6 months after calling all the dealers in my area and they all had ADM. I'm also trading a jeep that I never drive anymore so going out of state would be a PITA. That dealer is still charging a 10k ADM. Thankfully I finally found a msrp allocation and it was only 15 miles from home.
