Has anyone connected a trickle charger to their Hellcat? If so, how'd you do it? Did you connect to the battery in the trunk or the terminals under the hood?

Make mention that it is safe to charge battery from either location, however the the plastic b + cover hinge doesn't last long and tends to break at the hinge point. The plastic b+ cover is not a serviceable part and will need to be removed from a used harness, if u can find a good one.

And the benefits? What makes a difference and why would Dodge give you a ground post under the hood if not to connect to?

I was hoping to go under the hood so I can run the plug behind the grill. Otherwise I would have to open the trunk every time I wanted to plug it in. If you don't mind can you explain the pro's and con's of either approach? Appreciate the advice.

Page 174 of the 2015 owners manual outline the procedure for jump starting the car. It provides direction to do it from under the hood using the positive and negative post provided by dodge in the design of the car. A trickle charger hooked to the same location should have no issues. I am not an SRT tech but I am an electrical engineer. It doesn't concern me to charge the car from these points with a trickle charger.

Battery Tender connected under the hood every winter on my 09 SRT and now the Hellcat. 09 Battery was still fine when I traded it Oct 2015 on the Hellcat. You are only talking an amp or so max so no problem with voltage drop.

image.jpeg Connect it under the hood. Red positive on the left under the cover and negative on the "ground post" on the right. Thats how they charge the battery during Dealer Prep.

I plug mine I to the center console. No issues what's so ever. Do this with all my vehicles. One battery is going on 9 years.
