Getting ready to leave on a trip. Put a bunch of stuff in the trunk and everytime I try to close it, it pops open after a few seconds? Checked the child proof handle in the trunk, and the dash release button, everything looks okay but the deck lid will not stay latched.
    Any clue what's going on??

Yep, that was it. Thank you guys. Can't quite figure out the reasoning behind that? Why would a key in the trunk pop the lid? If you were in the trunk (as if) with your key, you could open the deck lid with either the key fob or the child proof release.

so you are not standing outside with a dumb look because you just locked the fob in the trunk..or left it on the console...the door locks will do the same.

But if the fob is in the vacinity of the car, and you press the little button on the door handle (or the trunk) won't that open the car?

If you have 2 fobs you can trick it for a second or 2 and it wont pop till you walk away...you can however leave 1 fob in the cabin and lock the doors if you have the other fob on your person. If you dont have the fob on your person and you lock the door on the way out it will beep and unlock.

I have an 11 RT AWD and many trips to the airport where I always have 2 fobs split up between coat or carry on and my pants pocket I have seen every facet of this fool proof feature. I looked a little foolish to the lady on the deck watching me curse the trunk lid because it would pop up soon as I walked away.

Not if the fob is inside the car. That would allow anyone outside the car to gain entry to your with you in the car when you don't want them too. If my wife was alone in her car I'd hate to think that someone could walk up and pull her out of a locked car by just touching the door handle.

She can over ride it by hitting her lock button on the extra fob when you get out. Found this out the hard way when hubby left me in the car and a stranger
walked up and opened the drivers door. Almost the last mistake he ever made.

I made exactly the same mistake when we went to Belgium back in September. I took the spare red key and had it in one of my carry bags in the boot. Kept having to lock and unlock the car to keep the trunk lid closed. As usual the guys on here wised me up to my silly mistake.

This new tech sure beats the old tech. In the case of my '68 Camaro, if someone pulled the door open with me inside they would be looking down a 9mm hole and thinking whoops wrong car.
