I started noticing a clunking sound in the last couple of days in low speeds, starting and stopping quickly. I thought it was the trans as I only heard it in 1st and 2nd gear, but I put it in neutral, and heard the same sounds while stopping spuratically. I'm gonna check with the dealer about new u joints, as this sound reminds me of when my u joints were bad on my 1st vehicle, manual s-10. It sounds like the front ones just behind the trans, but...
Anyone else hear this? Did you upgrade your u joints with the upgraded drive shaft, for those that did this?
    Thanks for the feed back...

There are numerous threads on this one. Cars have had rear end issues, I would search for that and have the dealer check the third member - they (dealer) should be aware of this.

When my wife drives the HC, I hear the clunking sound, when I drive it I don't. It appears she lets up too much on throttle when she shifts. Maybe the way she uses the clutch. She doesn't want to drive it anymore.

The drive shaft does not have u joints. It uses a form of a CV joint. The official name for them are: Plunging Cross Grove (CG) Constant Velocity (CV) joint, and Fixed Rzeppa CV joint

The plunging joints are used at the center bearing and at the transmission end. The fixed joint is used were it connects to the diff.

And the typically aren't known to have issues.

I only started hearing this noise within a few days... My driving hasn't changed since Break in, but thank you for the info.
    What is the third member?

I have exactly this problem too. My car is at the dealer now being looked at, the service manager was able to hear me reproduce the noise. I'll let you know what they say later today when hopefully it is fixed.

According to the dealer, they tried tightening a bunch of stuff (transmission mounts, exhaust hangers) with no luck. Then they lubricated the shift points, and the noise went away. It's gone now.

Turns out it was a bushing in the front of the shifter mounts that was making a noise, see # 5 on the diagram posted in my gallery. May help out the manual trans hellcat owners if they experience this issue.

okay... I got the same problem now on my Challenger M6 when shifting from 1st to 2nd. The issue came up since the clutch didnt engage in 4th gear one time... I was cruisin and shifting from 3rd to 4th. Shifter was in 4th, my foot not on the pedal...it took 5seconds and it suddenly engaged....since that time I have the clunking noise...

Is there a service bulletin for the dealers? I would like them to take as little as possible apart and therefore want to precisely tell them what the issue is.

What do they have to "open" to get this fixed....is this all from underneath the car without having to take parts off?

    thanks

Mine makes the same noise. I wasn't going to have it addressed until the next scheduled service. Does this pose a potential problem that should be looked at earlier? Thanks for any input.

    Hopeful

I see the M6 have too many issues. Mine have been 8 days at the dealership and it doesn't seem to have an end to it. I'm paying so much a month and I cannot even enjoy the car Lol.
I'm replacing the Clutch, I described the same noises in the Tans, stated in post number 1, and I have similar noises in right front tire(maybe the ball joints). Just 6K miles in the car.
Do we have any replacements parts to avoid this issue? If not this is a weak, weak, kitty. And it's annoying me.
