Just got my recall letter and software to fix security problem. Reading directions fix requires the car to be running for 25 Minutes at idle!! I'm not thrilled to let a hi perf engine idle for a half hour!!! Assume the dealer does the same thing? I'm thinking I'll take my chances.

I did mine with the ignition on, but engine off and didn't have an issue. I assume the reason it needs to be running is because of the battery voltage. As long as you've driven your car recently (so the battery is topped off), I can't imagine it would be an issue. I don't accept any responsibility if it craps out because the engine wasn't running, but I was able to do my hellcat and my wife's 200S without the engine running.

Yes the dealer will do the samething, Or you can hook up a battery charger to try and keep the battery level stable. Your "Precious" hi pref won't get hurt idling 25 minutes

Better read you owners manual or put a taxi sign on your car.

I've done at least two updates on Uconnect...and it was not idling on either one. Works just fine. Disclaimer...I downloaded the new file from the website before I received the USB stick in the mail.

This is from the PDF version of instructions you download from the website...

Complete The Following Steps From INSIDE your vehicle:
For non-Keyless Enter-N-Go™ vehicles, turn the ignition to the RUN position, but DO NOT START the engine. For vehicles equipped with the keyless go system, press the Start/Stop button twice with your foot off of the brake pedal .

The "RUN" light on the Start/Stop button should be illuminated and the engine should not be running.

Where do you find/get the updates from? I have a Charger SRT 392.

Same here, I have completed 2 UConnect updates. The engine was not running either time.

Yep, those are the directions I read also and have never left mine running for any of the updates. No issues at all.

    A) I did the update as posted above without the engine running but the ignition is on

    B) if having the car idle for 25 minutes is harmful then I'll never be able to drive my car in Houston traffic... Several times a year we are stopped on the highway for at least that long. I might have missed it in the owners manual, where does it say not to idle the car?... Actually I just searched the PDF and the 19 places it reads the word "idle" it doesn't mention not letting the car idle for long periods

Same as owners above, got my update in the mail 2 days ago, have yet to load it up.. something about having a lazy bone while being on vacation... Probably end up doing mine this weekend, dont plan on idling while installing, gas up here is stupid expensive!!

Got my USB in the mail today. Wonder if it contains any other updates as I haven't done shit since I picked up the car the end of June.
