The flat bed operator was unable to winch the car onto the flat bed without starting the car up and putting it into neutral with the engine still running then was able to winch on the truck then he had to get back in the car and shut off the engine.

    Is this normal?

Do you know about the manual override in your console?

I just saw the video which was for a Charger (presumably the same as the Challenger),
should I have done that (manually removed it from park by pulling that red fabric handle) or is it OK to just run the engine like they did on mine?

Presumably...? 'Can't see why not. You're just transporting home, correct?

It had just arrived at the dealer and I was having it flat bedded to a detailing shop for CQuarts and Expel ---- when that's done I will again have it flat bedded to my home because the roads are a mess around here plus heavily salted.

rollieman...not just this car. All (automatics) that I know of that do not have a locking steering column and key have a manual over ride mechanism and they are most all different even within brands. The good news, it's in the owner's manuals...somewhere.:)

The tow truck driver should have known.

Congrats on the car and the level of care you are pursuing.:D
