So, local dealer had three Hellcats' they ordered last September. All had VON, no VIN. One available due to a guy backing out, it had what I wanted so I grabbed it. Dealer was clear that they were adding $10K ADM. I agreed to pay it, knowing I had very few options.

Car finally arrives, we do the deal. When the dealer survey comes I deliver a pretty scathing review because of the ADM practice, saying specifically that while I understand the practice and respect the dealer's right to apply ADM, I do not agree in any way that it is ethical. I said I would not ever recommend the dealer to anyone because of the ADM practice.

I get email from the Sales Manager, he is pissed. Basically stating that I agreed to pay the ADM, thereby agreeing to the practice and leaving a bad review was very poor form. I responded letting him know that while I agreed to pay the ADM, having no choice, it was like paying ransom to a kidnapper. Paying it doesn't mean I agree to kidnapping, I just want my thing back. Let him know I was more than happy to discuss if he wanted.

His last email was along the lines of 'had I known you felt this way I would not have sold you the car, plenty of other buyers that don't have a problem with ADM.'

I dropped it at that point, although I wanted to point out that I seriously doubted there were buyers happy about paying ADM.

So, my question is this: do I have to worry when I take the car in for service that there is going to be some bad blood here? Does the sales department, specifically the sales manager, have any influence over the service department? Should I find another dealer to service the car?

It's clear they are not happy with you and honestly, I can't blame them. No one held a gun to your head to buy the car. ADM sucks but business is business. ADM wouldn't be a known practice if folks were simply not willing to pay it. Since we know you and others are, some are OK charging extra. I think your comments would have been better directed towards FCA in general for maintaining a system that almost promoted ADM.

With that said, sales and service are typically separate. We expect professionals to be professionals so in theory you should have no issue bringing your car in for service. If there is an issue with the car, they may be less willing to help you out. Personally, I would work with another dealer for service but in a perfect world, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

General Manager runs the place. Sales Manager and Service Manager both report to GM.

    Oops!

The sales department most certainly has involvement and influence over the service department. There is no question that I would not take the vehicle there for service.

Forward the scathing email to Dodge corporate. Let them get a look at how their dealers treat customers.

My dealer isn't happy because it asked me if they helped me setup the uconnect and i said no because its not my first car and im technically savvy. Not my fault it asked me if they helped and i said no, not in a negative light but i didn't want it to open 500 more questions of something they didnt help me do and i didn't want the help for it.

Otherwise i gave 10 on recommendations and etc

I'd tell the dealer to go bite one, if that one survey hurts them so much then it shows they have issues with other customers and surveys.

In this great USA we have free market. Yes it stinks what the dealers are doing but if the market will pay it then I assure you, if I owned the dealership I would charge it period.

I think the survey is a big deal to the dealer and I am sure you caused him lots of trouble. If he did good by you except the ADM I see he did nothing to deserve a bad mark. You guys had a contract; a meeting of the minds regarding that price. To do what you have done is buyers remorse and I think in pore taste getting back at a dealer because you think he overcharge you. You could have found a Hellcat without paying $10K ADM. I found one...
If you had a problem with the dealer you should have let him keep HIS car.
And yes I would worry about taking my car back to that dealer. I would think your business is no longer welcome.

Dealer made a choice to "ADM",
    OP made choice to purchase.
The OP has skin in the game and paid for the "right" to review dealer..
    Dealer don't like it..
Folks who pay ADM don't like it...
    Sounds fair to me..

Good for you. Unfortunately there's not much we can do about these greedy dealers because they can charge whatever they want. But that survey hits them where it hurts. Also go on dealerrater.com and post a review. Most dealers are participating.

As was said, in a perfect world it would not be an issue...

    This ain't a perfect world.
I trust few people and I certainly do not trust people who do not like the answer to the survey they asked you to take.
Stay far away and find another dealer to service it.

    My 2 cents

I never got a survey after my purchase. I never fill them out anyways, unless they offer me something in return, like a free tank of gas. The way I feel is my time is precious, and if they really value my input and the time I have to take to fill out their survey, then they need to compensate me.

the "viper specialist" who sold me mine (huge dealer with 12 allocations from day one) was sayn if he got a bad review it would cost him close to a grand in bonus's and how he refused to sell to a guy the day before who he thought might give a bad review
