So this will vary based on a number of factors, but has anyone run multiple tests with an A8 Challenger, stock "summer tires", non-prepped surface (street), in warm summer weather 80-90 degrees? Have you timed your 0-60 to see what rpm setting works best? All (constructive) input welcome.

LC= worthless for the Automatic....dont know anyone who is using it at the track or has talked about it here

Automatic is more about feeling the gas pedal and easing it down just right......

    LC is for Manuals

my best 0-60 on the street is 3.5 (a few times) and best at the track is 3.4 (some get 2.9)

    i have DR's

Interesting. I just assumed the computer would do a better job than I would. I will have to compare to see. Are you launching in 1st or 2nd gear?

1st....i tried 2nd gear at the track....my times were worse

you dont need to start in 2nd......

its all about easing your car into it.....with my 2011 392 i could pretty much just floor it.....but with 707hp you cant.....by 3rd gear(60 mph) my foot is to the floor....maybe a bit sooner....just slow and steady pushing it down more and more.......1st try is always 3.9-4.0.....now the tires are heated...next runs are 3.6-3.8....ive done it over and over getting 3.6 3-4x's in a row.....occasionally i get a 3.5

dont spend 1 more sec. on the TC idea....launching a A8 at 3,000 rpms will result in nothing happening.....you need to start at 1,000 or your tires will just spin

the computer is for TC...keeping you alive if your an idiot (like me)....doing something stupid on a twisty road (like thinking you have a Z06 when you have a 4,400 brick)

Sounds reasonable... :) Thank you and if all else fails, there is always LC. :)

    Forgot LC
2nd gear start ease throttle down quickly and smoothly, you need to ride the line between accelerating as hard as you can without the tires breaking loose.
On the stock tires I got a 1.79 60' foot time on the drag strip that way. (0-60 in 3.4 seconds)
On the street got a 3.6 seconds that way with full 32 psi in the tires.

1st gear is only useful if on a Drag Strip (which has sticky VHT applied to launch area) with wider than stock DR's on too.

Sorry to be a bit dense, but are you referring to starting in second gear with a manual or with an auto. If auto, how are you doing that? Are you auto shifting each gear or is there a way to start out an auto in second and let the car shift itself from there?

When you hit your paddles to engage the paddle feature, hit the right paddle and it'll go to 2nd gear.

I played with LC right after the feature opened up (after 500 miles), and it wasn't helpful, even at the lowest rpm setting. I still shredded the tires. Not as much as launching at WOT on my own, but you can't launch a car this powerful at WOT anyway.

I think that maybe with DRs and the lowest rpm setting, maybe it might be a little helpful, but I can't speak to that.

Yes. But will the car shift itself from there or do you have to use the paddles?

    2nd in an auto.
When you come to a stop, just hit the + paddle, you'll go into 2nd.
Use left foot on brake and right on the throttle.
Lift left foot off brake just as you start to engage throttle slowly and smoothly.
Keep getting into the throttle to and avoid wheels spinning.
By the time you are doing 50 mph or so you should be able to be to the floor.
Then just keep your foot planted, it will shift for you from there on.
Don't go into "manual' mode otherwise you need to shift with the paddles and nail it just right or you will bounce off the rev limiter, and if you hit the paddle too early you won't get the very best acceleration.

Paddle shifting is fun, but the computer does the best job of shifting when you want max acceleration.
