I tried to take a picture but no luck. Today a small strip fell off the back of the rear view mirror. It's 4" long by 3/4" wide, a tape strip. It's black on one side and the other side is white with a circuit board type layout. The circuit board striping looks like some kind of RFI antenna. The tape is sticky on the white side. I felt around the mirror and can't find a sticky spot where it may have come from. So my questions are: 1. What the heck is it? 2. Is it something I need or a candidate for the trash. 3. If I do need it, exactly where does it go on the mirror? This is on my Charger HC. Thanks for any help. Maybe Brampton Builder will have a clue.

If you look in the lower left hand corner, does it say "NSA" or "Property of US Government" real small? Don't worry; they're just looking out for your well being! It's all in your best interest.

    LOL, sorry, I couldn't help it. ;)

Not to worry, just 1 of many trackers installed on these cars, "they" can still find/track you using the others ...............

That's what I'm thinking, it's for internal tracking during the build and delivery. If that's the case I'll just toss it. I've read that the cars get scanned at every step along the way and I wonder if this isn't the scanning strip. If it were something important it would have been attached better than the half sticky tape. I'll try again for a picture that will show the printed circuitry. Meanwhile, anybody else find a tape strip on the back of the rear view mirror?

IMG_0355.JPG Ok, I finally got a picture with enough contrast to see this thing. There is a small black dot in the middle of it that may be a miniature chip. You can't see it in this pic but on one side it says, "2011 ALIEN". On the other side, written backwards, it says "TM ALIEN". So maybe Moulder was right, for those old enough to remember the TV show and movie. IMG_0355.JPG

That's definitely a tracking RFID tag for some part of the car that was moving down the line. I've seen those used on packed boxes of products at a pick'n'pack facility I used to work at.
