    Hello...

At 1200 miles I swapped out my stock summer tires for 305/35 Nitto 555R's. I am at 3300 miles now and never noticed a problem with rubbing noise when going through turns. I went to the drag strip for the first time Thursday and ran it hard but not abusive. Now I have noticed I get what I can only describe as a rubbing from the drivers rear when making right hand turns at about 10mph up through 25mph. If I go slower I don't hear anything. I think... maybe it's all in my head... I have heard it on left turns but no where near as often. I tried to inspect what I could see without the car being on a lift and I can't see anything that looks like rub marks.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on what I should look for/at??

    Craig

I looked over things last night and don't seem to be able to find any proof of rubbing. I also did some driving, only seems to make the sound during right turns, not on lefts. Ugh, thinking this means a trip to the dealer....

take the 305's off the fronts...i kept the stock tires on the fronts....dont see a reason for drag radials on the fronts? what is the reason? to me it just gives you worse/sloppier turns.....

Put a screw in both wheel wells plastic cover all the way left corner bottom both sides you see is the wheel wells looses point

    Driver side is left
Passenger is right of corner wheel well
Or use heat and mold it back a few

Did I miss something? Who said anything about DR's up front?? Are you assuming because I said I swapped out my stock summer tires I did all 4? I am talking about the rear tires, the rubbing is from the drivers side rear.

Anyway, I agree with those who are suggesting I look at the plastic cover, that is all I can think. My guess is maybe something came loose at the track since that is when it started.

^ I have had my hands in the drivers rear with those tires. So it should not be rubbing. Look first at the rib inside front. It would be strange if it was rubbing there. If it is, then unfortunately you have an orphan because I have not seen anybody say that rubs with the 305's and the OEM wheels (18.5mm backset). Then the rear liner. That is easy to move out, my guess is that maybe it is easy for yours to be in just a bit? If so that is easy to fix.

i figured you put 305's on the fronts since you said it was rubbing when you turn....why would it rub when turning on the back? unless you have 4 wheel steering?/??

my 305's have no rub issues

take it to the dealer...something is wrong.....

Sidewalls give on slicks so you can get rub turning on to the return road at track if they are close but OP says no rub.

Decided I'm going to have to take it in since I can't seem to see anything. Worst part is I will be on vacation starting later this week so I'll have to wait until I get back, no way I'd leave it with them for a week....

I noted when I put the same tires on the rear that the drivers side rear outer area of the fender wheel well plastic panel was about 1/8 inch from the tire. I cut a small area from the plastic and now have about 1/2 clearance. I shaped it nicely and it looks factory.

    Good luck

GoPro camera mounted with a suction cup should show you what is happening.
