Ok so I ran AMS oil in my 2014 F150 Eco Boost and in my 2015 Dart for roughly 6K miles each (80% highway miles). The oil was black as coal in booth rides. When I mean black I mean sludge black. I took both rides in to my local lube shop and had them flush both engines. I couldn't believe how much black crap came out of my vehicles. I also have a 2016 Challenger Hellcat and once the engine is broken in I will be up for an oil change. I am not sold on Pennzoil being great because it has never been and I am sure ain't putting AMS oil into a $70K supercharged car. Looks like I'll be back to Mobile 1. Does anyone have any thoughts? No hate; just asking. Thanks

Update 5 FEB 2015: Ok so I bought 2 cases of Penn's Ultra Platinum and the 0-41 SRT filter. My research has proven that discolor of AMS oil is no cause for alarm but, AMS oil is not certified for use in the 6.2 Hellcat engine (as for now) but, it's also not harmful according to the AMS oil customer service rep. Mobile one is also not cert'd but there is nothing that I could find that say's it's bad other than testimonies that basically are 50/50 on mobile 1 usage. When in doubt factory OEM out!

Pennzoil for me.. only because its SRT formulated and says it right on the box.. and that sick commercial of course.. it is what they use at the dealer too.. just my humble opinion. cool avatar

just use whoever paid SRT/Dodge the most that year (which in this case is penzoil). There is no measurable difference between all the oils. They all have to meet standards.

I agree....I guess I will just have the dealership change it to keep the records current and for warranty. I just don't understand how Pennzoil can go from worst to first. I remember in my engineering classes that pennzoil finished dead last in a head to head NDI competition between 10 leading motor oils. I have never had a problem with mobile 1. This is a tough nut to crack for me!

Mopar and Mobile parted company about 2009 because Mopar beat Mobile out millions due to the bankruptcy. Pennz oil just stepped up to the plate with the best deal. It could have been havoline or any other oil mfg. I use Mobile because I always have and I have had zero issues. I know many who have 150,000+ miles on their cars using Mobile and still running strong..

That said I know many who use other brands and have no issue. If I couldn't get Mobile I would use most any major brand syn oil and never give it another thought. You will get many IMOs in a thread like this so try not to get on the oil roller coaster. Just do a search and you will find this topic has come up dozens of times.

Just pick a major brand and change your oil as stated in the owners manual or more often and your engine will thank you.

EDIT....I just found out Mobile does not meet Mopars MS12633 requirement for the HC. Will be changing to Pennzoil.

I always hated Pennzoil, but it was recommend in my marine engines and some other engines. So I have used it for several years now. If the manufacturer recommends it, I will use it.

I never had a problem with amsoil but it is very stinky and pricey. too many goof ball "retailers" get paid on it.

There was some info on Mobil One. It used to be great but not anymore
I will caution you on the Mobil one products right now.

Make sure the oil meets Chrysler spec MS12633. I think only 3 oils meet it and Mobil is not one of them-----something to think about if you have a warranty issue....oil related.

Great info...I was not aware of that. I went to Mobil's website and Mobile verified they did not make a 0/40 oil that meets MS12633. Thank you sir. Fortunately I haven't changed the oil in my cat but will soon. Pennz oil it is! I will change my other cars to Pennz also even though Mobile exceeds their requirements.
