I don't believe anybody has one yet, they are available to purchase. Maybe they are releasing the first ones. Terry at Team Beefcake ordered one. Early testing rumors said 1000hp on 10 psi pump gas, 1300hp on 18 psi race gas. I guess we will find out soon enough.
My factory rep. Said 2 to 3 weeks before any gets shipped, that was this past monday..
Most fast cats at the track are already, spinning, wheel hopping, just trying to find traction to get down the quarter mile. So IF, they trump the already fast cats in hp. Traction is already a problem.. So maybe next step is pro-mod cat? .. someone may be already working on this problem?
I'm very curious to see the results from the new Whipple's ! I'd also like to see how well they behave on a daily driver basis. Pretty sure this supercharger will take your Hellcat into a week end only toy. This is a huge twin screw for a street driven car ! Many Shelby guys are complaining of drivability issues after making the switch, but don't get me wrong, I think this is so badass !
I'd hate to see what happens to the stock powder rods with the power this thing is capable of making. You guys have to realize that trying to push large amounts of boost and power on pump fuel is very very dangerous regardless of the motor. We keep pump gas guys around 15psi or so. Pump ethanol guys can run much more however. If I was to get one of these whipples for the cat, I'd make sure to have a built motor ready to handle the extra load, plus a fuel system to support.
Sammy, what transmission bottleneck? Don't say tq management either...
HighHorseman i see at bottom 4.5L is "option" can specs be provided for either and which size are you selling as priced on your site link in original thread? Thanks.
Hmmm, we've never ran into this issue yet and we've got a few big hp a8 cars. We'll be putting one of our A8 cats on the track here shortly so we'll report back if we have any trans related tuning problems.
I am just giving you a friendly warning of a problem that Team Hellcat is dancing with. If you cat is around 1,000 HP at the wheels, no issue. This is the main reason you do not see the Team Hellcat doing some crazy engine build, putting down 1,300 HP or more HP is meaningless if the transmission decides not to shift. Totally meaningless. If this information helps you or saves your ass from a pissed off client, how about giving Team Hellcat and 007 a discount on the 3 Bar map sensors.
I appreciate the heads up. You have a good point about the power vs trans shifting and I'm sure there's always going to be something going on to deal with.
I have the prototype Whipple 4.5L and it is a beast, it makes over 1200rwhp and we are in the process of upgrading the internals now. Tuning has been a challenge but Josh from HHP will be taking care of this after the build. Looking to do 30lbs of boost and we are going for a 250 shot of nitrous on our way to running in the 8's. I have had this for quite some time and could not say anything until it was ready to release. I will post pictures when it come back from the machine shop. Traction is a huge issue.
How much boost were you running , at your present 1200rwhp, was any nos on it then, .. some say that car hasn't seen the 9's , is that so, and was traction your problem then.
We can make all the power we want, but we can't hook what we have now. Cole , 007 and myself know this. I'm running monster slicks, 9.5 psi in them, pulled a 2" wheelie-spinning all of first gear yet in the M6.
