With the modern horsepower wars fully active. Do you the the Hellcat will become a collectible 30-40 years down the road, like the muscle cars of the 60's and early 70's?

    I would guess yes, but...

What I am afraid of is all the electronics on the car having issues that far down the road. The older cars were pretty simple to fix...look under the hood and find 2 broken pieces and that was most likely the issue. Now you need to take it someplace and with this possibly being a specialty car you might not be able to take it to just any Dodge dealer. I am running into this with my Prowler. It was always good to take it to a dealer who had a certified Viper/Prowler technician. Now it is hard to find those technicians.

I think so, my sales rep told me this on my deposit day in July. He really believes this will be a classic collectible when that time comes

Agreed. That was the straw that tipped the cart when I was trying to make up my mind on whether to get one or not. So glad I went for it.

Only time will tell. The 60's and 70's was a different time back then.

Today manufactures are kicking out tons of stuff.

Who knows, next year or two, something better might come along.

707hp for a stock production domestic vehicle is todays pinnacle but you can bet that number will be topped if the performance car market segment isn't stifled by EPA regs etc.

If they clamp down on horsepower figures then most certainly be a collectors car!

This is what I based my had to have now factor on. I don't see this type of horsepower being available for too long! With the fuel economy requirements due from all car manufacturers by 2016, I am sure my state will be an early band wagon to limit hp and carbon footprint any way they can...

I hope not...... why you ask???? because they 60s & 70s cars became collectable because bad things happened. Gas shortage...........55MPH speed limit......recession of 1980 ( thank you very much JimmyC)
If the economy and politics work out well for us and we prosper as a Nation there will be more advances in everything including cars and I hope they are even better, faster and safer in 30 years. Sounds like there is more oil in this country than the rest of the world. Lets hope things go well for America so manufacturers like SRT can build the ultimate vehicles.

Also remember that Cars don't kill people. Stupid people do, so don't drink and drive and keep your new Cat under 150 on the freeway and we should be fine.

I see big V8's going away in the next 1 or 2 decades. The move will be towards turbo v6's. We are in great days indeed. The turbos and etc will make great power but the days of V8 monsters will be coming to an end soon.

That would be awesome. I hope you end up being correct! I would love to trade my Hellcat in in 3 years for a better Hellcat!! If possible to accomplish such a feat!:)

I was going to build a restomod 67 Vette with an old fashion carb just for the reasons you started above. Don't have much faith in all this new electronic stuff.I was thinking that would be the way to go, never have to take it to a shop. Then Dodge had to come out with this dang Hellcat and screw up all my plans!!!

Sounds like me...I had recently been discussing some specs for a stroked 360 to drop in my 68 Barracuda when rumors and spy photos began popping up all over the web about Dodge working on something BIG. Then the first YouTube videos began to surface and all I could say was "Holy Shit" that's one Bad ass car....And "I've gotta have one". No disrespect to the Ferd and Cheby guys...but I was really getting sick of the GT 500 and the ZL1 putting out crazy Hp numbers and in many ways rubbing it in the face of Mopar. When the official (and then the Un-Official) Hp numbers of the Hellcat were revealed, I realized ( and so did the everyone else ) that Mopar had finally "Had enough" and their answer to the Hp wars was a "GIANT MIDDLE FINGER", followed by a massive burnout and tail lights. All I can say is, my plans for the Barracuda are on hold for now and the garage will hopefully soon be filled with one of the most insane cars ever to roam the streets.

At the current delivery rate, they will be collectable before anybody gets one.
