OK I'll try this section as I don't think people go to the regional sections. Anyone have a recommendation on either what type of tint to get or avoid? I don't want to be the guy with bubbles all over his car windows like I see everywhere.
Also if you are in the Houston area, I'd love a recommendation on a place to go, or at least check out
Tints don't have to be dark to be effective. If the price is too good to be true ($99) then just stay away. Look for shops that have been around and provide lifetime warranty (good films come with it). Always ask why brand of film they are using.
BRANDS:
new 3m crystalline has outstanding heat rejection properties at all light levels. Nothing else like it out there.
Huper Optik has some good performing products (ceramics)
Most Ceramics (type of film) are very good but look at their performance numbers. If it has to be dark to be effective; just say no.
Ceramics run about $250 and up...Crystalline is approx $500
3M has a ton of films out on the market. A buddy with 2014 Roush Mustang just got the Crystalline installed and it crystal clear. Heat rejection from sun is superior to all other products.

My wife has used the 3M in a few cars the last year. I used the Suntek CXP ( top line ) window tint in my 14 Subaru and soon to go in my Hellcat.
I MUCH prefer the Suntek as to my eye it is much clearer (think a better quality camera lense). both 3M cars, the tint is more gray vs more bronze with the Suntek. My Wife has a 2015 jeep and my Suntek would have matched her factory rear tint better as factory has more bronze than gray. Her 3m also has a almost milky non clear look when side by side to my Suntek. FYI, We used legal tint for South Carolina, dark enough for me at night as any darker I cant see out the back!
My $.002 looking at both tints side by side.
I noticed my 3M tint didnt look as clear as Id expect. It looks kind of like the window have a dusty film over it. Is that normal? Id hate to think it was because it doesnt look all that good from the inside looking out
I'm really happy with my Llumar Formula One Pinnacle Ceramic Film on my car. 30% on the side windows, 15% on the rear and Air 90 Ceramic windshield film.

I have Suntek on my Hellcat. Just installed a few days, still settling. But it is 5% on the back and 20% on the front. 35% is the legal limit in Missouri but I don't think that is dark enough. I'll take a quick pic of it when I get a chance to show if anyone wants it.
Had my car tinted today and used the same shop that did my wrx a few years back.
I had the Suntek CXP installed in my WRX and asked for that today. I wonder if that is what I received as when I was in the back of the shop all I could see was boxes and boxes of Maxpro maxcool film so I kinda have the feeling that may have been substituted with out my knowledge? Who knows? I will be able to tell in a day or so after some drying but honestly I am not complaining as the guys did a good job and as long as it is ceramic film I hope to be okay. I know the guys and always offer me a better " cash" price and if I ask will not use that stupid sticker under the film our state requires ( I may regret that) . I paid $160 out the door and used the South Carolina legal tint but looks much darker in the horrible iPhone photo below.
No I didn't but I believe they get together every Saturday so if you decide to go again let me know and I'll swing by I'd love to see your Granite Hellcat and meet a fellow Hellcat owner.
I originally wanted the Granite Crystal since my 2013 Challenger Srt8 was Granite and I was on a waiting list for a 2016 HC but I got tired of the lack of communication between Dodge and the dealership and from the dealership to me so I picked up this one instead.
If you took some pictures of that day shoot me some pics on here or PM me I don't want to hijack Zebugs thread.
Pinnacle here as well. Great heat rejection. As car is black on black, did windshield in clear as well, WOW, what a difference!
Would highly recommend doing ws in any of the darker color, warmer climate cars. Makes it much easier driving on those super bright days and with oncoming brights at night.
Just make sure they do use towels and don't use too much water as the electronics under the dash don't like moisture very much at all.
Very happy with my tint!
Please tell me more about the your windshield film. I would like to have the heat rejection but it can't be as clear as stock can it? Does it look funny at night with oncoming headlights?
Tinting the windshield was probably one of the best things I could have done with the car. It has cut the heat gain by a huge amount. I don't have any distortion or hazing of the lights at night. It has cut the glare of oncoming traffic and is much easier to drive during the day even if I forget my sunglasses. Just make sure to pick a quality tint film and installer. Nobody can tell mine is tinted unless I tell them!
Keep posting up the tint manufacturer, product name, and (please) confirmation that all your electronics still work 100%: Bluetooth connections, UConnect, mobile phone reception, NAV, etc, etc...
This would be about my last choice for tints. Check the websites for 3m and Huper Optik films. Look at the performance numbers for UV, IR (heat rejection), etc in the same tint percentages. 3m Crystalline beats them all closely followed by Huper Optik ceramics.
