Slap that sucker on there to the best of your ability so you can sleep at night and when you see a 2017 in person and can make a better determination worst case is you might just have to buy another one and redo it. No biggie, 46 bucks not worth stressing over.. From the official pic Gixer posted I'm fine with where its at on mine for the most part.
You can also remove the adhesive from the emblem and redo it with 3M double sided molding tape adhesive. Save the white foam and clear applicator to recenter the letters so you can redo it if you have to.
