I could be wrong but I think it would take more than that.

That 170hp wont have the same return on performance like the 140hp difference did between a regular HC vs the Demon.
Plaid has 1020hp, weighs 4800lbs and runs 9.25

1010HP Demon at 4000lbs (Speed Core CF panel(s), CF wheels, etc.) running 8.99 on a prepped track with good DA definitely should be possible...

Perhaps our resident stock Demon expert @dragrcr can chime in with his thoughts here...

I get the math (albeit ricer math) buts just not that easy.

Plaid also has 1050 tq and it’s instant.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope it does, and I hope you get one 🤞😊

I fully get your point about trying to get progressively faster is not 'linear'. However, this is an OEM. So they are doing all the engineering upfront and adding more than just HP. Modding suspension, and taking other lessons learned from the killer Demon. And they're doing this on a much bigger budget than any one of us could ever dream of. Honestly at 840HP and 4200lbs should the Demon be able to run 9.5s in good air? Not on paper, but all the neat tricks Dodge did to help the HP number mattered (Chiller, variable suspension maximizing weight transfer, etc). I guess I still have faith in SRT (or whatever is left of it). Tim/Dodge KNOWS the target and it's the Plaid. I think they also would love to hit 2 other numbers in the process (1000HP and 8.99s). Just my opinion but I think they wouldn't go out unless they thought they could hit all of those marks. Remember this is it. It's Dodge's Swan Song. In fact, this could become the planet's all-time (and final) high-water mark for an all ICE production car on the drag strip.

I hope you are right sir 👍

The plaid is AWD correct? That is a huge advantage.
It sure is. And potentially weighing in at +800lbs is a helluva disadvantage.

The key for Dodge here is can they make this beast hook with all this extra power (at the track). No one is silly enough to think this thing has a chance vs an AWD golf cart on the street. If that’s what someone is looking for, they need to buy one of the many soulless EV eggs that are for sale.

A-170 would be better. Take approximately 80lbs. off the front end t0 help handling and weight transfer.

It's not going to be something that is for track racing only. That would be worse than a sticker package.

To do 8.99, Carbon Hood, Roof, Trunk lid, (possible) Narrow Body, Demon Launch Tech, Aluminum Block, Demon brakes, no back seat, Carbon bucket seats, thinner windshield, less sound insulation, E85 with 3.0L Blower on 426 Hellephant- 1200hp.... MIGHT do it.....but I predit a hero run just like the "9.65" claim.

Anyone else have "Final Countdown" playing in their head today? :)
LOL. My son and I were driving his Camaro a few months back as it rolled over from 99,999 to 100,000 and I said to him "All we need is that song: The Final Countdown to be playing." and HOLY SH$T, when we turned on the Sirius radio on the Tailgating Anthems channel, IT WAS PLAYING!. We got a great video of the entire event. Great memories.
