My name is Don. I recently read a motortrend article by Patrick Hill. The article, 1970 Chevrolet LS6 Chevelles - Winning Pair, is dated May 2, 2011. The article revolves around a 1970 Hugger Orange Chevelle SS LS6. Patrick says there were only 4 hugger orange LS6’s made. He knew of 2 but didn’t know anything about the other 2. I recently purchased a 1970 Hugger Orange Chevelle SS LS6 from my Uncle’s estate. We grew up together and I have many fond memories. I am fortunate enough to be able to keep it in the family. The car has 25k miles on in and has been garage kept. Everything on it is original including the paint. This car could be number 3 of the 4 manufactured and based on the build sheet it may be the very first one manufactured.

I have been trying to get hold of Juan-Carlos Escobar . I believe this article is about his Chevelle. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks much.

I recommend you go here: The Supercar Registry - Powered by vBulletin Just go to the lounge thread and post exactly what you posted above and I am sure you will get a lot of help concerning your uncle's car. Do you have any other original paperwork from when he bought it? That really halps in documenting these cars.
This is the forum with the experts on various Chevrolet musclecars, including several well known LS6 restoration experts. I post there regularly and have several threads on various GM and Mopar musclecars I have restored overthe past 20 years.

Oh, I believe the actual color name for that orange when it's on a Chevelle is Monoco Orange. Hugger Orange was the Camaro paint color name.

According to this, Hugger Orange was a special order color in 70.

It was a running name change since it was a limited availability/special order color. You can see in 1969 they used both names when it was first introduced. Same color used on the GTO Judge in 1969, too, and they called it Carousel Red.

Cool, same color also used on 69 Vette and called Monaco Orange, paint code 990 on Corvette.

In today's market that car would be worth a fortune Don, is it a 138 car ?
As you must know the problems with Chevelles is there's literally no records kept but i see you mentioned based on the built sheet, if you have the original build sheet thats a grand slam (y)
I've owned about ten 69-71 BB Chevelle's over 5 decades, definitely my all time favorite classic muscle car, amof I sold my 71 BB Chevelle to get my 1320 Challenger which i recently upgraded to this Hellcat. Just wasnt fast enough for me; 468 roller motor, T400, Convertor, 9" Ford Rear, Suspension upgrades, Black Interior with console, etc....
