So, notice how I just said intake lol. Ok so here’s what I’m trying to figure out.

I know typically that the whole cold air intake thing is a wash at best, sometimes they’re actually worse than stock. That being said at this level and on these cars I really doubt they are worse even so I would never really be interested in one on this car except for this thing I read about 2015/2016’s only , and that was they have much less ability to breathe compared to the newer ones.. something like 70% less wide open.. seems like a lot if true and either way this article said that the upgrade in intake was the reason they went from 707 to 717. If that’s true I want one and let me know what brand has been dyno proven the most to provide the increase. Like can I just buy and install a demon intake without tuning? Easy to install? I’m working out of a condo right now. Price?

and while I’m at it let’s just get my only other mecanical upgrade out of the way. Do catch cans actually prevent build up in the supercharger or anywhere else. Is there any logic that points to it being a preventative maintenance item or makes the car run better? If so got a brand to reccomend. Thanks guys

I was torn on the subject for a long time and ran the JLT painted stock intake with the green filter for a long while as the desired aftermarket system was not easy to find. I had zero issues or complaints with mine originally as it matched the rest of the white components under the hood.

When I was able to by chance come across a fellow owner selling the whole JLT set in matching white and two filter styles ready to go I jumped on it. It does increase the audible whine of the SC having the open element and running a pre-filter gives me a little extra protection from rain getting the dry filter wet and degrading its life.

I am unaware of the specs for your model but I still have my original 2015 lower box, tube and the JLT painted white top box part available. Have considered selling it just not a huge interest in it.....for early models it is plug and play, after they changed in 18, the sensors are very different and it is not a direct swap.

I will keep the aftermarket open filter on as long as I keep the car, but have heard quite often that other models are seeking the original Hellcat intake for better flow.

I will have a new lid/ tube soon still in testing and design… but the stock intake set up on all hellcats is far better than any aftermarket without a air box. I call them hot air intakes a lot of people like the after markets like LMI and Bwoody because they let the supercharger whine out heck I have even talked to a few who know they are lower proformance at speed but like the sound so keep it on. Here’s a teaser photo of what’s comming soon… I will be opening up pre orders soon to help pay for carbon fiber mold cost once I get the design finished trying to get the 6.4 platform to fit aswell to lower costs for everyone.

Ya man it’s about doing what’s right I could give a shit about the supercharge whine. Somehow that just seems wrong also like why is it doing that lol it’s just screaming and it’s not affecting it negatively in any way? Doubtful. Shit I’m even buying a stock exhaust system from a local fellow when I get the chance because this mid muffler delete sounds horrible: lemme drive on the highway without feeling like my heads gonna pop from the drone ugh. And they did a horrible weld job so that eats at me to

If you get something cool going on there keep posted. If there’s no codes thrown or tune needed maybe I try it
