Hello Hellcat Forum!!

I ran across this site as I have been working on purchasing a hellcat. I took the plunge today. 2016 Hellcat with 17K miles. 6 speed manual
I’ve got a few days to wait before it arrives.

I have always been into modding cars for more power, and have always been a mopar fan. First car was a 71 charger that was quite fast with a lot of mods to push the 440 down the road.

I have about an extra $5K to spend on mods. I’ve been looking at tuning it with E85, bigger injectors, bigger throttle body, and after market intake. Possibly exhaust and I’ve been reading a little about porting and polishing the supercharger.

What are your thoughts on this?

I recently took possession of my brothers truck after he very unexpectedly passed away. Don’t shoot me for saying the F word, but he had a 2014 Raptor with the 6.2L in it. He always wanted to put a supercharger on it so I took it from there. Stage 2 Whipple kit should push the engine to around 700hp. Also went with rpg traction bars, stainless works exhaust and after market drive shaft. Sooo I do like modding vehicles.

Any thoughts or input would be much appreciated.

Brian

You haven't driven it yet. Drive it first. Get to know it. These cars are beasts out of the box. Are you modding just to mod? I guess I don't understand this. The single biggest mod is the driver. My advice is to drive it as-is for a bit and get to know where any weaknesses are. To me that’s how you mod. Throwing parts at it just for the sake of modding never makes sense to me. At the very least you’d have a point of reference to start with and mods will be more noticeable. A before n after kind of thing. Just my take. Not trying to sound harsh lol.

I get what you’re saying. I will drive it for a couple of months before I start the mods. I have added hp through mods on every vehicle that I have owned, so it is expected on the Hellcat from my friends and family.

Just keep in mind, that if you mod it... 30% of your value evaporates. If you mod it to the level of needing to get it tuned, it'll store a P1400 code for all eternity which tells anyone buying it that it's been tuned. This generally will equate to a massive loss in value should you ever want to sell it. Some people care about such things (me), some people don't.

I like to mod cars too, just not nearly 6-figure ones. I tend to leave those alone.

I will keep that in mind and thanks for the input in that regards. I’ll drive it for a while and see how the power feels. There will always be that itch for more power.

With the M6, I don’t plan to do a lot of runs at the track. Dyno and street fun for me.
