Hey gents,

Had the car for about a year, just started to hear what I believe is the dreaded bearing noise. Only issue, its a 2017. Everything I have read suggests it was only on 15-16 cars...

Thoughts?
While the supercharger bearings of the earlier MY cars appeared to have a problem and manifested premature failure much too often this doesn't mean later model cars can't also develop a supercharger bearing problem, although it is less common.

Best get the car in for a professional's opinion and if the supercharger bearing bad get it fixed. By continuing to use the car you risk causing more damage that could take out the supercharger or even the engine.

I would call the service dept, but you are going to get the "schedule an appointment " routine, and end up paying $85 for them to confirm it and say they will not cover it.

Pretty sure the Supercharger is covered under the drive train which is 5 years so it should be covered if you can find a tech that will admit it's bad. Post a video and we can tell if bad or not normally. Could also be the tensioner or idler pulley(s) too.

My Dodge warranty expired in January 30 of this year...no more warranty.. The car sits like 7 months of the year because Canada has shitty weather.. I just pulled it out to wash it and heard it...

Stupid question.. how do you post a video from your phone on here?

As supercharger noise goes I've heard worse, but it doesn't sound healthy by any stretch.

Best to have a professional give a listen and at the same time eliminate other sources of noise so all that is left is supercharger bearing noise, provided of course that is what is causing the noise.

So you think its the Supercharger eh... well she goes in Friday.. only issue my warranty ran out January 30 2021.. I have a used car warranty, but if they are looking to replace the whole system, I dont want to be out any money, more so because this is a known issue and should be extended for warranty by FCA. My aftermarket warranty only covers up to $5000 per incident...

How much does it cost under warranty for the entire supercharger?

It "sounds" like other audio that have been confirmed to come from the supercharger but that's not sufficient to move ahead on a replacement or repair of the supercharger.

Have a tech listen. He'll take steps to pin point where the noise is coming from. It should be pretty straightforward to determine if the noise is coming form the supercharger and where vs. a noisy -- for example -- idler roller, tensioner roller bearing or something noisy in the accessory drive.
