I just purchased a new 2022 Challenger JB. On 3 separate occasions when I started the car, the engine didn’t fire right up after I hit the start button. It was trying to kick over but it sounded like it wasn’t getting fuel and then boom, it fires up. There is no rhyme or reason when it does it. It is not the battery. I’m thinking either the fuel pump or alternator?

I thought maybe my car was breaking in since I only have 250 miles now but doesn’t seem right. Has anyone else had this issue or any idea what it may be before I contact the dealer. TIA

I have a 22 redeye charger and having this same issue, taking it to the dealer on the 13th of this month and can report back to what they find out.

Thank you! Does yours do it all the time or is it sporadic? Mine even did it once with the remote start as well.

When cold it fires up no problem right away....only when you drive for a while and shut it off for 1/2 hour or more and try to start it will stumble as cranking then fires...no codes or warning lights etc.....drives fine.
Told by tech its faulty fuel pump and there are 2 of them in redeyes. Am going to try to get 2023 Challenger but if i cant secure one then will keep the 2022 JB have the pump switched out under warranty..no big deal.

Interesting that there are two fuel pumps. How did you explain it to the tech as the issue?

I have been waiting to see if anyone would post about this issue. Thought maybe mine was a one off. My 2022 Challenger Jailbreak does the same thing. Very sporadic. Couple of times I wondered if it was going to start. Acts like it is starving for fuel for 2/3 seconds. Car fires right up even after sitting for 2 weeks. Seems to happen after driving and then stoping for 30 to 60 minutes. I have appointment next week for routine service will report back what they think is going on.

My 22 charger hellcat has the same issue at times. Fires up just fine when cold. It will stumble a little when starting after it's been running. If anyone gets a clear answer from their dealership, please report back.

Yeah like I said the pressure at the rail is dropping over time. Then when you start it the pressure has to build at the rail before it will fire. Other cars have this happen as well.

Just throwing this out there, wasn't there an issue with the fuel pumps canceling each other out? The pressure from one was causing back pressure on the other, anyone else hear something like this?

I noticed it on my 2022 Redeye but letting the fuel pumps stop making noises before trying to start the car seems to have fixed the issue for me.

My 22 WB Charger has failed to start twice. Hit the button, cranks like mad, no start. If I hold the start button down a few seconds it eventually cuts the cranking cycle off and starts right up with the next push.

Mine is a 2019 and does the same on occasion when hot started but only once in a while.

Mine is a lot better if I make sure to hold the start button down. If I tap the start button it will choke and sputter.
