I ordered a HCWB months back and finally got word that it should be delivered in the next two weeks. When I ordered my scat many years back, I did not do a thorough delivery inspection when it arrived at the dealership and was quite unhappy months later when I noticed gapping issues and such.

My question is, what things should I really be focusing on when inspecting the car when it arrives? I know gaps and possibly paint defects? Anything else?

They do have a PDI form but only for dealers, I've never found one in a car.

Think there was something for Demon online and it outlined all the things that dealers were NOT to do, maybe someone can find that.

As far as inspection, just basically check everything and do all of this on a clear sunny day. It goes without saying, do not pick up your car at night or in bad weather or under any circumstance where you can't devote a couple hours going over it and checking that everything works.

Then take it out and do the test drive and this needs to be a good drive not just around the block. Need a smooth highway where you can take it up to 80 mph to check for vibration, pull or any other noises.

After it all checks out, then you can go inside and start signing papers.

If anything is wrong with the car you should refuse delivery until the dealer has fixed whatever issue you may have. Once you sign for the car any problem it may have now becomes your problem and your dealer suddenly might not be quite as friendly as he was before. So don't sign anything until the car is right.

I’d be mostly concerned with in transit issues. Dings, scratches, interior tears/dents etc. If you’re doing a front plate, make sure the frame is in there somewhere, prob. the trunk. Assembly defects can be taken care of under warranty. Also, be aware cars are shipped with the tires over inflated. Helps keep them from flat-spotting if sitting around for any period of time. They’ll prob. be around 50psi so you’ll want to get them down to spec. Dealerships are supposed to take care of that but rarely do.

Maybe that's why I found my GM one in there, NOT filled out! :)

Took delivery of my 22 WB RE Challenger last night. Was the first to be delivered in South Florida. Make sure the dealer installs the performance pedals and air deflectors. Both are in trunk. your choice to get wheel locks or not. Not sure what they inspected on car but sure you can ask who did the PDI.
Honestly i was just so happy to get this car and get out of there. When they are selling 21 Scat Packs for 30 over MSRP Getting my car for MSRP is crazy.

You are absolutely right, the market is getting even crazier. Honestly I can only nitpick to a certain extent. I’ve been waiting months for the car

Make sure they install the front rock guards/mud flaps. They need to be plastic riveted in and are a pain to do yourself after the fact.

Also make sure your wheels are not scratched. All 4 of mine were scuffed up from transport. Look at them VERY CAREFULLY. These are like $4k to replace and if they are scuffed or scratched, find it before you leave and make sure it goes on a "WE OWE" form that they need to replace them before you sign papers.

Okay I’ll definitely check the wheels. The WBHC come standard with the rock guards? I thought you had to buy that aftermarket?

We want gapping issues as long as we are the guy gapping the other cars OP! Seriously, I would look for body panel (gap) alignment. More importantly all hemi’s can tick, but I would make sure that there are no unusually loud engine ticking/noises.
The paint jobs on new Dodge vehicles can vary a good deal from car to car. My 20 Redeye WB had poor paint quality, my 21 SS has a great paint job. Go through the gears in track mode too. Even driving normally can produce some very hard/erratic shifting in some. Not trying to scare you, most are fine. But just to answer your question, these would be my only “known”concerns unless something really jumps out at you. That, and I am seriously OCD. Congrats on the car!

Thanks a lot man! I wonder what can be done to rectify gapping issues? I feel like there’s only so much that can be done from understanding. But definitely going to play close attention to the ticking from the motor. I had a scat back in the day and it had a really loud tick. Definitely going to run through the gears also

Yeah if you have a modern hemi that doesn’t tick at all, it will probably start in the first 10,000 miles. For the most part, this is ok and normal. I have never had one fail on me yet. My 2020 Redeye knocked loud after about 7,000 miles. Only at idle, after the engine was up to temp. Bugged me to death! But Dodge won’t address it usually unless it throws a code or starts running poorly. My 21 SS is great so far. You can only hears the injectors clicking as they should. I have seen a few that knock hard brand new. Again, might not bother everyone, but drives me nuts me when loud. In summary you can expect some engine clicks/tapping on the hemi more than most others. But even if pretty loud, it rarely affects performance and doesn’t hurt a thing. I had a 6.4 in a SRT challenger that knocked loud too. Annoying, but always ran great. Just saying I would not buy another one that knocks loud when new.

^^^THIS

My brother's Hellcat, my WB Scat, and my Daytona 392 ALL had weird rub marks on the matte black wheels and there was no way to get it off or cover it up.
Dealer didn't care either
