Just got the recall alert on the Dodge App on my iphone today.
Now who the heck is gonna actually trust their local dealer to know how to work a tire machine without destroying a virgin set of rims??? Let alone if they actually have a modern tire machine that can handle rims these wide. Last time I was at my local dealer they told me they didn't handle rims over 18" 🤪

No expiration but eventually they can decline to do them when they run out of parts. We had this experience with a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z. There was a GM safety recall for the crumbling plastic seat belt buckle release buttons. The recall is still on the books but GM doesn’t have the parts anymore to do them.

I don't think they'll run out of TPMS's any time soon. I think we can wait on this one, I certainly will.

And if we put it off 4 years we get new 5 year TPMS's! :)

I just posted in another thread. Yea, I’m just concerned about idiots working at dealerships to fuk up my 1200 mile rims. No Way am I gonna take my car in for this stupid recall. knock on wood that I’ll never need warranty work.

I just bought that Craftsman pancake air compressor on sale at Ace Hardware. Lol.
Talk about good timing. Lol. Before I received the recall letter. I was gonna over-inflate my tires a bit for winter storage.

Funny thing: I brought my recall letter into the dealer to check on if I could just get the TPMS sensors and do it myself on a modern tire machine (Of course the service mananger said no). He looked up my VIN, on his computer. He said it deosn't show my VIN as being in the recall. I asked him what takes precedence? The fact I have a letter from Stellantis with my VIN on it, and the fact that all the Dodge Apps have a big alert on them about this recall with my VIN in them...or his computer that can't find my VIN. He of course said his computer. LOL

Tell them that the dealership doesn’t have a tire machine that won’t damage your $1700 (per wheel) wheels and that the dealership refuses to guarantee they would replace the wheels if damaged.

Have the same recall letter, not going to do it.

The smartest thing to do is NOTHING and wait until your TPMS sensors fail (why replace them now when the battery is still working?). Then bring just the wheels to the dealer and have them change the sensors. Say you get a year or 2 of use with the "bad" batteries you're still ahead of the game, it's like pocketing a free TPMS battery change if you wait.

That's what I'm doing.

I’d be surprised if a dealership would still warranty with no out of pocket cost if you just brought the wheels in. Not the car. Hopefully you can find a dealership that will do it though.

I mean the VIN isn’t on the wheels I think. I’m Not sure though

I just attempted to submit the reimbursement online but the website doesn't work. Once you spend all that time adding attachements and explaining in 225 spaces or less, the damn submit button doesn't do anything. So I called the number on the recall notice and spoke with someone. He sent me an email to initiate the reimbursement process and I uploaded the same stuff that I tried to upload on the website. He did say I may have to bring the car to a dealership to have the car scanned to prove it was done in the recall system. Otherwise it may continue to read as unresolved.

That makes sense, the dealer has to remove the flag from the recall system.

I got my tpms recall already taken care of…. but I was asking about the z83 recall which I found out is the performance features booklet/Manual. I received it in the mail! the 22s didn’t come with them or they came with the prior model year manual
