Planning on buying a wide body sometime this year. The question is, with them being discontinued in the end of next year, would a 2023 be more valuable than a 2022 in the long run? Yes I will still drive this car, but an "investment" makes me feel better about spending 80k to order one. If you guys don't think it matters either way, then I may possibly look for 2018+

Appreciate all replies!

Agree with Jbrumz85...ADMs are probably going to be pants on head 'tarded. I suspect some allocation and possibly fulfillment issues once we get deeper into 23 MY production.
Dodge cant keep up now, and it may only get worse as other supplies & contracted sourcing, hits end of line.

The final run '23 cars will have higher value initially due to simply being 1 year newer, but once the market prices stabilize, (assuming an actual post termination of the line), the difference between same/similar equipped 2021, 22 or 23 will be minimal, if any.

*Unless of course, this is all some crafty marketing hype, to open the flood gates of consumer demand, which, one must admit, is right up dodges alley, having been done before, albeit in more subtile ways.
I personally do not believe dodge or any other U.S. based manf can pull it off. (it being an all EV fleet)
Its simply not feasible within their own stated timeline.
I suspect a 11th hour postponement of the EV/Hybrid that dodge announced and, as it relates to this topic - possible extension of the HC line. Its not like its been a soggy flop, in fact, its been just the opposite!

Well I guess I will have to order or find a good deal on one soon then. I totally agree with you on the EV, but everyone is now racing to see who can get the biggest check when their fleets fail lol

I’ve made up my mind, im ordering a ‘23 HCREWB, if I was going to short a stock, I’d short Stellantis. My bet is the whole EV gimmick will be a huge flop. But, due to EPA regs, they will cut power back to 1979 Jimmy Carter levels (185hp from an Oldsmobile 403 in a 1979 Trans Am).

I’m buying the ‘23 because I feel like it’s the last true muscle car of my lifetime and until Texas becomes a Republic, we will be stuck with these ridiculous CAFE standards and it will be the death of muscle cars as we know it. But that’s just my .02.

I wish they made RE in a manual, I would for sure go that route. I'm 22, so can not confirm nor deny it will be the last muscle car of my lifetime. I really don't think EV will be the future, as more studies keep coming out with the pollution of just creating these. If Orange man would've won last election, GM wouldn't have even announced that they're killing ICE. Like I said above, its all about who can get the biggest bailout lol Not to mention are grid couldn't even handle 25% capacity ev. But im on the opposite side of the aisle from everyone who spouts who great EV is so I don't know anymore. People seem to really like the rivian and lighting too, Me? No thanks, ill stick with my 6.7 cummins. I can pull my 8k work trailer daily to all of my projects and wherever I need, while getting decent fuel mileage. I can't sit for 2 hours in the middle of the day waiting for my battery to charge lol I also don't need a snowboard compartment, I need an 8ft bed, Roomy cab, and sound that warms my heart every time I give it some throttle (;

Any money the '23 might bring in a premium in the future will be negated by the upfront price increase due at signing. An $80,000 car today was selling for $72,000 last year. The $80,000 2022 will be a $100,000 or more car in 2023. Do not doubt me. In 2023 the ADMs are going to be insane. What's more is that if you want a 2021 car with options in a 2023, you need to order a Jailbreak. I'll use myself again as an example. In 2021, the Jailbreak I ordered for $96,000 would have cost me under $85,000 for a Redeye Widebody. They pulled all the options out of the REWB for 2022, so to even get that same car, I had to pay a premium for the model upgrade and the a la carte pricing for the options.

In summary, the best financial choice for getting a Hellcat or Redeye was to get a 2021. Given that we don't have time machines, the best you can do now is a 2022. The 2023s will be grossly overpriced.

Think about the profit theyre currently making. It's extraordinary actually. In 2020 with dealer discounts and the $7970 rebate my loaded REWB was 18k below 94k MSRP = $76k. And they still made some type of profit. The same loaded REWB now needs to be a JB. MSRP will now be closer to 100k and that's without ADM. The profits now are astounding. The R&D has long been paid for and it's all gravy now. 2023 with the giant markups on an already hugely profitable platform will be crazy. I keep toying with ordering a SS but I just cant bring myself to do it knowing I'm going to pay 25k more for just about the same car.

Don’t get distracted by so-called facts relating to the “future” of cars. Focus on you, what will make you happy, and what you need to do to avoid unhappiness.

No one knows what will happen to HC’s in 23, not even Dodge. This is the stock market, infinite variables and an unpredictable outcome. We are playing the probabilities based on the current market and limited information.

I want a RE. As much as I would like the last year of production, I opted to order a 22 because at this point it is a better option than the unknown of 23.

You can do whatever you like, but you will ultimately face the reality of your choices.

Right here. If the 23’s are built who says it goes a full year.

It won't go a full year. Brampton has been told that they will be out of products to build at the beginning of the 3Q in 2023... so it is scheduled to be an abbreviated production year for the current LX platform. They'll then switch production over to Belvidere for whatever the new platform is and push out the 2024s in Nov/Dec.

Doesn’t surprise me in the least.

I’ve been toying with the idea of ordering a 22 SS, got a quote yesterday and dealer said Dodge website still shows $81,980 base price, which the NEW price in dealerconnect site is $84,130 which is second increase in 4 months. Yep it’s the last round of cash grabs for sure, 23s will only get worse. Best dealer would do was 3k below sticker on ordered car.
