I've looked but haven't seen anything definitive on when the 2022 production will stop and switch to 2023 model year vehicles. Per a post from Dan Cummins, 2022 orders will cease by September and Dodge will finish the 2022 model year by October and then start on 2023's. As I have my 2022 WBHC still in D1 status, I'm waiting patiently (ordered April 1st) for any update on a build date. Initially, my dealer gave me a July 11th build date, but that's come and gone.

My concern is that we are getting down to only two-month window to build all the remaining 2022's. Does anyone know what will happen to my order if 2022 production ends and my car hasn't started production?

Same state of mind over here!
as of last Saturday my dealer was still taking orders for NB hellcats only. keep in mind that my JB's still in D. the sales manager told me that the car will be built due to the VIN.
The key word here is "most likely" so 80% YES and 20% NO

My 21' SS with a VIN, was ordered in October, 21' and cancelled Jan 1, 22' and replaced with a 22' order on Jan 3, 22'. Yes, with a new VIN. Car arrived in May, 22'. It would be interesting if it happened to you as the allocation for 23' is already a shit show with how the have described it will take place.

Did Dodge automatically create the new 22 order or did you and your dealer have to initiate that process?

Per the norm, Dodge will halt '22s sometime in October as previously mentioned. Generally, they spend the remainder of the year producing replacement parts. Every year, Dodge idles the factory in the first half of January to do inspections, upgrades, maintenance, etc. They'll start taking orders likely sometime in December with production starting on or about Jan 17th like the last few years. I don't think they'll change that process.

For cars that don't get built prior to '23 start, they'll get canceled. If allocated, they'll get rebilled as a '23. If non-allocated, you have to start over. That's pretty much how it's been over here.

I am trying to fall into your logic here.
lets say you have 02 orders in. 01 is charger hellcat with a VIN (technically an allocation is not required) and the other one a JB with a VIN based off of the allocation.
do you think the hellcat will be simply cancelled?

Assuming you mean the date has arrived where they stop production on the '22s? If both cars have not been started, I'd wager both of them get canceled and moved to '23.

Allocations are basically the golden ticket that gets the car moved ahead in the line, and under normal circumstances, they have the time and resources to build it. Like what we saw in '22 and previously in '21, that means squat because they are constantly fighting manpower and materials issues. The parts shortages are what drove Dodge to cancel so many orders at the end of '21. In '22, it's likely going to be overselling allocations as they quit taking orders on some models back in May. Dodge simply doesn't have the capacity to build cars in the volume people want them. As I mentioned before, they make 1/5 the amount of all Hellcats combined that Chevy does C8s... Dodge has logistics problems. Not a car or desire problem, but all the desire in the world doesn't matter if they can't build them to meet, or even come close to the demand.

Lastly, if they do go about canceling orders, I think it might be a more painful process than it was in '21. In '21, they moved everybody that got canceled to the front of the '22 line and delayed their builds 3-4 months. Since '23 is the last year, my hunch is that they may full well cancel the order and say thanks for all the fish. Try again along with everyone else. Otherwise, we'd just see '22 all over again where the first 2 months of production were eaten up by holdovers from '21.

I’m a sucker for logic and this perspective seems square to me. Much appreciated!!!

The key difference between '22 and the '23 production year in terms of ordering... is that these cars are worth likely $10-$20k more a piece... so Dodge would lose money on every car they have to convert to a '23. That, and the buyers for the '23s are arguably going to be much more upwardly mobile and they're going to want a car at almost any cost. From a purely business sense, Dodge would be silly to cancel orders and honor pricing similar to what they did in '22. For every 1 they sell at the '22 rate, there's probably 5 or 10 people willing to pay $30k more for it just to have one of the send-off year vehicles.
