I just called the dealer to place an order, looks like all the Durango's come in red leather interior only...pass
Agreed. Plus the Alcantara is cooler (figuratively and literally) in the summer, warmer in the winter. Red interiors only belong in strip clubs.
OP, congratulations on the order, you'll love it. It just passed the 2 year anniversary of my order, 11/06/2020. Took delivery 3/18/2021. Just passed 13k miles. Brand new Blizzacks going on this week, oil change, then a 1k mile road trip for Thanksgiving.

The only hang-up I have is the fear of theft on the road..I can't bring myself to take the HC on overnight trips...Unavowed has debagged I have not..
And I'm taking mine from MD to northern Ohio for Thanksgiving. Staying at a AirBnB with off street parking, so not really worried about overnights. I will be out and about during the days and evenings though, as I become the default people mover. I'll try to park in highly visible, well lit places. For everything else, there's insurance.

I've never owned a Charger, but I own a G8 GXP, so the sports sedan box is checked. I bought my Durango Hellcat as a daily driver/road trip/tow vehicle. It has not disappointed in any way. 18 months of ownership, just turned 13k miles and zero issues. Well, the SRT logo in the steering wheel doesn't light up anymore, but other than that, just oil changes and lots of gas. As a TRX owner I'm sure you're used to that though. The Durango will feel quicker off the line than the Charger, but slower from a roll. It will launch as hard as the TRX, but will pull away from one as speeds increase. If it were me, I'd rather have a sedan and the Durango than the Durango and a TRX, but that's just me. I'm not an off road guy so the TRX's abilities aren't a good match for me. As a lifelong GM/LS guy, I love my Durango. Other than the Escalade V, which wasn't around in 2020 when I ordered the Durango, and is WAY more expensive (and slower) there isn't anying else out there that does everything it does as good.

Debadged… smart 👍🏼
It was originally debadged for paint correction, PPF and ceramic coating. I considered putting the badges from the black package back on (they are the only part of that package that I really like) but decided not to. The badges only get attention from cops and crooks, and I don't want either paying attention to me. As Turd points out, enthusiasts know what it is. Also, the badge on the grille is still there, so there's that..

So being a 21 owner and looking at the rebirth of the 23 model and thinking about how the brand wants to make everyone happy....I believe the 10k bump in base msrp is to appease those who felt the new batch would degrade value. from early observations on the 23 ordering process Stelantis may also be concerned with oversupply..
Agreed. Makes me glad I got a 21. Back then I was hoping for a Power Dollars rebate that never came, but at least I don't have to deal with the current ordering/supply/demand/ADM issues. I'd most likely walk away if that were the case. And that's coming from a guy who loves his DHC.

I also have a 2021 Durango Hellcat, but I ordered a 2023 on the first day they became available because I believe that the 'final year' of the big Supercharged Hemi will be more desirable later down the line. I had absolutely no problems with ordering/supply/demand/ADM issues as you mentioned. I paid MSRP (107K), and I got my VIN. I will sell my 2021 when the new one arrives.
How much more is $107k compared to what you paid for the 21?

It doesn't matter to me. Prices have gone up on everything. How much was a gallon of milk in 2021 ??
We get it. All you Demon owners are rich. But a big reason for the demand/ADM issues is because of people like you. Speculators masking as collectors, treating the car as an investment to profit from later rather than to drive and enjoy now. Since you didn't answer my initial question, how about this one; how many quarter mile passes on your Demon?

The biggest drawback on a 21 is you really don’t know how they treated it. Why save money on a used car when you can just buy new and feel confident you F’d it up instead. Lol.
Instead, a '23 at invoice is much more appealing, so that's what I ordered.
Why would they sell it to you at invoice if market conditions allow them to sell it to someone else for MSRP or more?

Maybe it's because I've bought quite a few vehicles from that dealership, and have become friends with the owner?
Maybe. All the dealership owners I know are ultra capitalists who value profit over relationships by a large margin. Full transparency, I worked in dealerships for 17 years. Sales, finance and management. I was involved in many deals with "friends of the owner". We made money on all of them.
What matters is you get the vehicle that you want at a price that is acceptable to you.

Being someone who didn't snag one in 2021, I am very happy to be able to get one now - but, I would be absolutely PISSED if I was a 2021 buyer for sure!
Is that because you are looking at it through the lens of a speculator/investor/flipper? As a 21 owner I admit that I wasn't thrilled about them bringing it back for 23. Hell, I wasn't thrilled they made more than 2k of them back in 21. But then the more I thought about it, I bought it to drive and I've been doing that for over 18 months and enjoying every moment of it. By the time the 23s are delivered I'll likely have 24ish months of enjoying it that 23 owners won't ever have. I can't be pissed about that.

Hey everyone had a question, as I just came back to Dodge last year. Why doesn’t Dodge, American Muscle etc… why don’t that use Goodyear, Firestone, Continental, American branded tires on there Hellcats? Is it because of FCA having some Italian brands? is it just the low bidder? A preference issue? Inquiring minds want to know.
Money.

Knock on wood but I have had very few issues with my last three FCA products ('14 JGC SRT, '18 DDSRT, '21 DDHC). The Durango Hellcat is the first one I have made true modifications too as I wanted to enjoy it and track it, but as I posted, I kept it reversible. The dealerships I frequent for service are performance minded dealerships but I haven't had an issue that was engine or transmission related that needed repair. If I have a significant issue that needs addressing under warranty in the future I will try to determine root cause and then make a decision if I need to revert my mods to stock before taking it to the dealership. But I highly doubt both dealers would void warranty based upon my mods. Not all dealers react the same. I am aware of this hence my desire to keep it "simple" while I am under the 3 year, 36,000 mile basic warranty.

The laps recorded below were before the addition of the Borla S-Type exhaust. Could I go faster? Yes. But I need to drive my DDHC home at the end of the weekend.

Here is my best lap at Road Atlanta

Here is my best lap at VIR
What brake pads?

Man, I'm very disappointed. When are they going to release a warning on the dash telling me if the wipers are on?!?
Pretty sad that this has made its way into vehicles as a safety feature as folks are too distracted to remember they have kids or pets in the vehicle
Yes, it is indeed sad.

But many can't fathom driving without blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise, auto-on wipers and headlights, etc.
Seems like people no longer drive, but are just along for the ride and want their vehicle to take care of any normal thinking associated with actually driving a vehicle.

I'd think that EVs would satisfy their desires of soulless vehicles and that they could leave regular vehicles alone for those who are still driving while driving.
I think it's a great idea, especially in vehicles like SUV's and minivans where kids will likely be. While distracted driving is a huge problem, I think anything that can be done to prevent child and pet deaths is a good thing.
