I am happy to say that I placed my order for a new 2023 Dodge Durango Hellcat on 'day one', and already have a VIN. According to my good friend @ the local dealership, he believes that my order was the first one on the books for 2023, with my VIN ending in 000. Either way, I am excited and can't wait to get my hands on it. She will be Destroyer Grey w/ Redline Red/Black stripes, and Demonic Red interior, w/ all available options. I found it interesting that even though I got my VIN, there is no breakdown for price on the POC. I am guessing that prices have gone way up for 2023.
Ordered ours same day as you. VIN expected soon. Went with Octane Red and Silver Stripes. All the same options otherwise.

Already went D and had VIN this morning. Dealer tried to enter system and check if Premium Pkg was available again. They could not even get in. Order banks are now closed and can no longer order a 23 Durango HC. That was quick, only open a few days.
Dealer called to tell me VIN was available today. I did not see a change when I entered the VON a few hours ago. Has yours updated in the tracking system?

This is going to make for an interesting yet frustrating 2023 for folks ordering new Dodge products. I am guessing your dealer might not have been let in if they used up their allocations, but only time will tell. I highly doubt Dodge had orders for all allocations they allowed during this first go round. Since the colors were limited to the 2022 palette I am wondering if they will build and early batch (still a month or two after regular 2023 production starts), open the order board again with the added colors and then build the balance towards the back end of 2023. Just a thought since I lived this in 2021.
Why do you believe the other color options will be available later on?

Not like Dodge to dangle that carrot out there and not let it see the light of day. New colors are usually "late availability." Take In-Violet for instance on the 2021 DDHCs. It was in the initial press release as an available color and then it disappeared. Only to be resurrected when they reopened the order board to build more DDHCs in May of 2021 (even though it had been on GTs and R/Ts for a year or more).
In Dodge's 2023 Durango Hellcat announcement they made it a point to photoshop pictures showing Frostbite and Triple Nickel (and list the color specifically in the image details) and when they finally released the formal specifications and features for 2023 Durangos earlier this month all those colors were in there and marked as late availability.

As 2023 goes on Dodge will have a better idea of how their Hellcat engine builds are going and I would assume they will adjust the number of DDHCs for 2023 either up or down at that point.

The local dealership where I ordered my '23 DDHC is very small, and has never sold a Durango Hellcat before - they also got zero allocations for any of the hot-item Challenger/Chargers either. But, they placed my order on day one and I got my VIN two days later, for MSRP as well. I am guessing it was first-come first serve, rather than allocations, but again, that is a guess. Who knows these days ..
The first dealership I drove to said We’re charging $20,000 over sticker. I just got up and walked out. Next dealer said $10,000 over. Nope. I heard $5,000, $3,000 and one place said We have to get at least a $1,000. I said you’re right but it won’t be from me. Bye.

It is my understanding that all dealers know now whether they have allocations or not. I was first on 2023 Durango HC list with Dan Cummins in Georgetown, KY. Salesman texted me yesterday saying “Hi Mark, I hate to say this but we didn't get any Durango Hellcat allocations.” They do a large amount of HC business. Lucky I contacted my local dealer! They placed my order last Friday afternoon without an allocation and I had my VIN on Monday (next business day).
I find it strange they could place an order without an allocation. Perhaps the order banks are not restricted.

Don’t know, but Dan Cummins couldn’t order one and my next closest local dealer where I’ve done quite a bit of business said weeks ago that they would not be getting an allocation and would not be able to order one for me.
I would add several dealers I contacted told me upfront they could not order one because they did not get an allocation. Even they seem to be under the same impression. You can’t spec out a vehicle unless you’re allotted one.

Congratulations. Ours was ordered before you and although the dealer communicated a VIN the tracking system still says TBD. Frustrating because we all want the same thing and yet everyone has a slightly different experience. There’s no sequential numbering on VINs from what I’ve read. Not sure where I saw it but someone said roughly 362 were ordered so far. It will be interesting to see how long Dodge will take orders. I’m glad we weren’t locked out because there isn’t one other vehicle being produced I’m interested in buying.

Hopefully your VIN gets straightened out soon. The Escalade V looks cool, but dealer markups I've seen are just ridiculous, and I think it needs a little more power given it's size.
We needed a new car. I looked at everything. I can honestly say not one SUV on the market appealed to me. The Durango was the one exception though it’s a bit larger than we need. No family , just the two of us. Hopefully my wife doesn’t say it’s too big.

You're just going to have to sit back and chill. BG means the order has passed edit, but cannot be considered for scheduling at this time. That could be for a variety of reasons. What was the configuration of your order? Dodge is playing the weird order game again for the Durango Hellcats and is causing PTSD for all of us that lived through it in 2020/2021. Have your dealer check for order updates on a weekly basis on a Friday and see if there is any movement. Unfortunately, nothing is guaranteed with Durango Hellcat orders. There is no definitive start date for 2023 Durangos, let alone Durango Hellcats which will most likely start several months after regular Durango production begins. Dodge is struggling to finish the 2022 builds due to parts shortages. I won't be too concerned that you haven't received a VIN yet.
The words late availability could likely mean summer of 2023. I wouldn’t put too much faith in obtaining a VIN because until that vehicle is built it means nothing. You can’t drive a VIN.

Representative from Dodge customer care confirmed my VIN. Tracking system is not accurate in real time. They said the vehicle is in the process of being sequenced for production. My guess is they won’t start assembly until after March. Possibly delivery April May but who knows. If it’s a worst case scenario it could be July August.

Ahh, yes, the tracker tends to be behind actual status changes. Some it is spot on, others seem to lag with no apparent reason why.

If you have a copy of your POC from your dealer, that is the most complete/accurate piece of information you can get. Unforunately, there is just no good way for users to get that outside of continually asking your dealer for an updated copy of it.
Curious as to how you know the number of orders submitted. It was said to be around 362 previously. Has it gone up or have order banks been suspended temporarily.

I also have a 2021 Durango Hellcat, but I ordered a 2023 on the first day they became available because I believe that the 'final year' of the big Supercharged Hemi will be more desirable later down the line. I had absolutely no problems with ordering/supply/demand/ADM issues as you mentioned. Paid MSRP, and got my VIN. I will sell my 2021 when the new one arrives.
I’m with you. If this is in fact the end of the ICE on muscle cars you are buying something at the end of an era.

Well my dealer says they can't place the order without allocation, so I am still pending in order purgatory until they receive their allocation.

I wonder if Dodge has paused the allocation rollout or if they really are just taking their sweet time. Seems quite a few other people have had luck with their dealers who have already been given their allocation in the last week or so.
I can put you in touch with a dealer that has allocation. Where are you located?
