Good morning all,

I have a 2015 Charger Hellcat I got the first year. I have been wanting a widebody since they were first announced but could not bring myself to pay the added premium given that I already had a hellcat. I finally ordered a 2022 because the party is ending. I think 2023s will be hard to get. Plus, there is the current backlog of 2021s, so who knows when 2022s will be complete.

My question is: Does anyone think Dodge will do any sort of last hurrah that is meaningful for 2023s? I would hate to get a 2022 just to be one upped by the next model year. I was hoping to hash this out and get some feedback. Thanks.

There isnt much more room to go with HP I don't think, but I'm banking on a final year edition of some sort.

I think so too, but can you imagine the demand and dealer markups? I did get to order my 2022 local for $1,000 under MSRP. Coincidentally, that is the same deal I got for a dealer stock order in 2015.

I would bet that if the Direct Connection works out this year, a special edition 2023 Redeye with 885 hp and 787 lb-ft of torque direct from the factory.

But, that is with race gas. And, they didn't even ship the Demon with the race gas option installed. Kind of disappointing the Direct Connection upgrade kit with an OEM tune only adds any real power with race gas.

I believe the stage 2 is on pump gas.
Direct Connection Stage 2 package, which is currently only available for the 2019+ Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. This package adds the 3.17-inch Hellraiser pulley and a unique engine tune, resulting in 885 horsepower and 787 lb-ft of torque. When installed by a Power Brokers dealership, this extra power comes with the factory warranty in place. This kit costs $1,195.

"885HP is achieved by enabling high octane functionality via Direct Connection Tuner Kit. Note: While high octane mode is not engaged1, expected performance is 837HP." This is the Stage II kit.

"Factory-tuned calibration for increased engine performance to 840 HP / 770 LBFT per SAE J1349 correction factor." This is Stage I.

I’m sure they will find yet another way to bend over the consumer
Touche. They really bent me over on the 2022. Standard options from even 2015 are now Jailbreak, like the gloss black painted roof I wanted. And, dealers are raping people on Jailbreaks. Sigh.

Yea. I would think for 2023 they will have some special editions.

I’m buying a 2022, getting a 2023 special model will probably require a ADM. I’ll get a jailbreak now and be happy.

Agree

.....and then I believe in mid-2023 you'll hear/read what the options and pricing are for 2024 Hellcats 😐

I just may have to agree with you on that. What a lot people on the forum are ignoring is that Dodge said the EV will co-exist with the Hellcat for a year. Doesn't that sound like 2024 will be the last?

Your statement kind of casts doubt that any significant performance enhancements will be offered. If the demand remains high, there's little incentive for the manufacturer to add to their production costs. Special performance enhancements will require development money for tooling, software development, training the factory line builders, implementation, and advertising. I think Stellantis might offer a special or commemorative trim package but they also seem determined to end the current Hellcat line.

I am inclined to agree, but part of the problem is supply chain issues. I spoke to an insider who said one of the reasons for pushing all options to Jailbreak is that it limits the option on standard production. For example, some TRX orders have been delayed for a year because of the carbon package. The carbon interior package was pushed to Jailbreak for the hellcat. Dodge can push standard production cars through without issue. They are already having problems getting the Jailbreak options for the cars sold now. Also, what did they really add? Different paint for the wheels and calipers? Colored floor mat piping?

Wayne Carini ( chasing classic cars) was on Mecum auction yesterday and they were discussing Mopars. He said he had a few good friends working there and wouldn't be surprised if they released a 1,000 hp last hurrah car ....

Yes they will always one up the previous model year either with adding hp, cosmetic changes, or both
whether it’s ICE or EV that what makes excitement and lust to drive sales for the new model year..the key is to plan for it, I already know if this new EV is the cats meow I’m in

I did the same thing. Got a 2015 Charger Hellcat and recently wanted the last edition before they go away. Decided to order a 22 Redeye for 5% below invoice and figure I should be able to get a decent return on it if something really special comes out in 23. If not, I’ll drive it till it dies (or I do). I’ve got over 110K miles on the 2015 with no issues so far so if I get that out of the next one I’ll be a happy camper 😁
