Took my 21 Hellcat Charger to the track this morning.

Car runs fine on the street, leaps off the line from a dead stop with my drag setup on and shifts are fast and crisp.

Today at the track every pass I made the car would bog off the line launching between 1200-1500PM and would hiccup as if timing/fuel was being cutoff.

My 60' times ranged from 1.67-1.71 but it didn't take off like it does on the street.

My best ET was 11.19 @ 123 MPH with a 1.68 60' back in November with slightly cooler temps

I'm running Weld Ventura 5 17x10 bead locks with M/T Et Street Rs 305 45 17

On the way home from the track she ran perfect. I drive with my drag pack to and from the track.

I leave my trans setting in sport on the street and track.

I also didn't log any runs as I just wanted to get out there and make some passes in the cool early morning weather.

I have a suspicion that COTS is kicking in and causing my problem.

Might be time for tune to address this.

Anyone else experience something like this?

You only have to worry about Cots if your engine is getting hot and a good tuner can adjust the temperature settings so it doesn’t kick in so soon. If you turn it off completely, just use common sense and don’t run it if it’s hot

Can someone educate me what cots is?
COTS is your catalytic over temp protection. If the cats get too hot it will richen up and drop unburned fuel to help cool the cats so they don't melt.

For some reason on the 21's Dodge decided to lower that temperature threshold which causes this to happen much sooner. It also causes torque management to pull timing which will slow you down. I thnk they did it for federal emissions standards.

I'll be working on getting it tuned in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for replying. Yeah I'm just going to have them raise the temp threshold and whatever else needs to be changed with torque management as well.

COT will only manifest itself as a reduction in power output, and would only be noticeable at the track in the MPH or in logs. If the car isn't shifting right, or launching right, something else is at play here.
Was the car dead hooking or spinning a bit? My guess is more related to traction control than COT.

Track was prepped to the 1/8 mile @ OSW. I'm running M/T ET Street Rs and every part AAD makes for the rear plus both P4D diff braces. Tires were at 20 psi and I did a five second burnout before each pass. Car is stock power, stock weight.

It fell on its face on every launch and would stumble on every shift.

On the way home on the street it ran fine and shifted perfect it was snappy when leaving from a light.

Best I could get out of it Sunday was 11.36 @122.24 with a 1.68 60'

When I ran it back in November it ran decent, but I also had a bad pair of Mickey's which is what was killing my 60' then as the car wouldn't do better than a 1.68 60' but it ran 11.19 @ 123

I should have logged it but I just wanted to get out there and make some passes.

Logs would be ideal. Its not COT though.
Can you repeat the process on the street? Do a quick burnout, roll up, and try launching it and see if it goes and shifts like you expect?

That isn't going to be COT as mentioned above. COT will show up down the track.
If bad enough it will drop boost and feel like you let off. Then pick up again once the computer thinks all is good again.
A log would be ideal.

Ironically, later ignition timing provides hotter exhaust. Rally racing cars' computers do it on purpose to keep the turbo spooled.

Didn't have time to mess with it this weekend, I'll definitely have some time later in the week to get the car up to operating temp, do a burnout and see it repeats the behavior while logging.
