Yeah COT is something you'd feel down past the 8th. If its the initial hit like that, you might be starving the fuel pumps. I had that problem too with my 21 Charger HC. If you are less than a half tank, you are in danger of starving the pumps. I could reproduce that problem as well, then fill up the car and its gone.

I was the one that had all the COT issues too with the 21 Charger HC. And I know exactly what it looks like in the logs and how it feels. Car will open the bypass, go pig rich and rail pressure will drop like a rock while injector duty cycle skyrockets.

If you are near Orlando, then go out to palmetto and see my friend Robert. He runs a hellcat shop there, they partnered with Dusteroff for tuning and they do the builds. Called Gonzalez Motorsport. They are all too familar with this issue. Our friend Angelo has same problems with his 22 Charger HC. They got it squared away and hes running deep 9's now.

Thanks for chiming in. I had 3/4 tank when I got to the track. It would fall on its face when launching and it was cutting off power between every shift.
Car ran fine on the way home from the track that day.

What did you do to fix your issue?

Maybe I'll head out to OSW Friday and log a few runs and see what happens.

Unfortunately, most who only drive on the street will never see this issue.

Yeah I had to get a tune to turn off COT. Thats the only fix. There is no way around it. And removing the cats without a tune makes it worse. The cat temps are calculated by many metrics and when the car sees air moving quicker to those rear O2s, it thinks they are hotter than they really are and COT kicks in worse.

Your only option is tune. And with the 21 Charger HC, COT seems to be the worst its ever been. Speedy looked at my stock tune as well as some earlier hellcats, and Dodge has progressively been making the COT thresholds lower and the way the car reacts to it much harder.

And for the record, on the way home I was still getting the COT symptoms on the highway. I could get into boost and the car would fall on its face. See here.. Watch the boost. It doesnt quite sound that bad in the video but it would literally fall on its face. Like hellcat to scatpack.

Log your runs. You will see what is going on at launch and at the shifts.
Like Vet Rider mentioned the COT will show up down the track. Mine would act up just before the 1/8 then wake up only to act up again before the end of the pass.
Tune the COT threshold to a higher temp and raise the shift points and you will be pissing off all the stock Redeyes.
On pump gas with no timing changes mine has run 10.07 in good air.
Of course someone on here doesn't like that, and acts like my car is heavily modified. 🤣

Looks like it's going to be a while before I head out to the track. Also been having issues with balancing my rear drag setup and I'm on my second set of ET Street R's. They don't balance for shit. I tried balance beads today and at just over 100 the rear of the car shakes violently, so I'm going to get refunded on those and just leave the car alone for a while. Been racing for over 25 years and never had this many issues when trying to run a car.

No its the mickeys. They are notoriously bad nowadays. Its a shame they are still so good. But Ive had 4 pairs of ET street SSs on two different sets of wheels and they were impossible to balance. Even roadforced, they took a ton of weight and still vibrated on the road. Sucks but its about normal now.

Tires are garbage. The speed at which they start vibrating changes with each pair and depends on which method is used to balance. If it was a cracked or bent wheel it would show up at a constant speed I would think.

Took a screenshot from my log the other day. I was cruising down the turnpike and tried to make some WOT hits. I noticed that my fuel pump commanded duty cycle was just under 84%.

I wonder if this could be my problem when I was running down the track? I would imagine launching the car on sticky tires would put more of a strain on the fuel system.

I'm pretty good with a wrench but I'm still figuring out this side of making it run right.

Looks like cot. You’re at .70 lambda commanded. That’s like 10.0 afr rich. That’s what it does. Dumps boost, goes pig rich and you get piss poor performance. You should be at like .85 lambda maybe .83.
