Hi all, as I've documented in this thread, it took 15 months to get this car from its original order date of 3 Dec, 2021. After I discovered that the dealer had lied about having an allocation, I canceled this order and bought a C8 on the same day as a rage purchase. This is where the crazy part of the story begins.
Apparently, I canceled it on the very same day that the Dodge dealer sold to new owners. When they performed their data transfer from their old servers to the new auto group's, an error was made by their DBA and it truncated all the customer demographics from their stored orders. They had to manually reach out and update their current orders with the proper owners' info. As such, my car was never communicated to Dodge as having been canceled. My name was removed from the order by that DBA error, so when I checked a couple months later, I got no info because my last name was not a valid name for the tracker. So, I thought it was dead and I moved on.
8 months later, I got a random cold call from the Dodge dealership. They called to let me know that, somehow, my original build was selected for D status and was about to go into production. I lucked out because I personally know the salesman and he remembered whose car it was (that, and they don't do much SRT car volume at all, so the list of potential people who ordered was short). They asked if I still wanted it, and I told them if it is actually going to get built, then yes.
The car went D1 the day before the '22 MY cutoff. Dodge ended up suspending the D1 status and pushed it to a '23 model. It was later picked for production on or around January 9th. Per every car I've ordered from Dodge, it was built and then sat in the upfitter for 3 weeks. It was build complete in the middle of February and shipped in the 3rd week of February.
In the interim, I talked with the dealer about the pricing. They agreed to honor the original POC price ($97k) from 2021 on the 2022 model. If it were left as a 2023, its MSRP would have been $103,000. So, I saved a little there. Further, they tossed in quite a few perks (10 year extended warranty, paint protection, 10 year free oil changes, 10 year wheel+tire plan all for $1,500) as the current management knew of the shitshow that the previous ownership put me through with all the lies and doctored/fake POCs they fed me to keep me on the hook.
This unallocated car had somehow made it into production 13 months after it was ordered and it was delivered 15 months after the initial order, ON MY BIRTHDAY.
Thus, this car should not exist, as it was never given an allocation, was formally canceled and deposit refunded, but due to a database error, the cancellation was never communicated to the factory and was allowed to sit in the system until it won the non-allocation lottery. My name is still on the "built for" on the window sticker.
