Most people can't deal on cars to begin with...... or even try to bother. So really when it boils down to it with a hot item like the Hellcat do you honestly see too many guys getting a deal? Of course not. See with me I hate buying cars or trucks...... but none the less I do have fun with it. I bought 2 brand new pickups over the course of the last year and made the deal on a third for someone else. From MSRP to paid price I was 31%, 39% and then 32 % discount respectively. The 31% and 39% discounted trucks are mine. Other than the 39% truck the other 2 were high dollar loaded rigs with an easy sale market. None the less I play my game and get what I want for the dollar I want. Friends and acquaintances bought similar trucks at the same time and paid quite a bit more than I did for a truck that cost even less....... Why? They don't want to do any leg work nor do any dealing. In and out..... wham bam and pay whatever the salesguy tells them that the price is! Nope..... I go off of invoice price ( that generally I just make up in my head because depending on price it is $5-6K lower than sticker), add in the discounts and then knock another $3-4K off for good measure. I posted my prices paid on other forums and most of the guys don't believe me which is just fine in my opinion.
So what's my point here? I won't get any huge discount on a Hellcat, it just won't happen. That said...... since I obviously can play the game, I will get a car for MSRP or less.... because I am willing to do what it takes to get it. I run my own company, manage my employees, do all their paperwork and operate still as a field tech myself..... and I have time to do this. So anyone does..... lol. Like Huggytree has mentioned..... if you once offer and make no effort, you will pay markup. I don't overpay for anything regardless of what it is. With vehicles that drop like a rock in value in the first 3 years especially....... no thanks.
