Inquired to order a Durango Hellcat from Koons. Purchased my 2018 Trackhawk and a Ram from them. Just received a reply stating they have allocation but since this is the last run (heard that before LOL) they are asking 50k above MSRP. Um......I can buy an SRT and build a better Hellcat with that kind of cash. I got a killer deal on the 2018 Trackhawk from them. At the time they had 26 Trackhawks and wanted to move them as the 19's were coming out. Different market. Different scenario. Not paying above MSRP for this vehicle or any vehicle for that matter.

I think Koons is a bunch of ripoff artists. I was dealing with Koons Ford to buy a new GT500. After 4 months of emails back and forth, they finally agreed to msrp. So I went down to the dealer to close the deal and they offered me 10K under KBB for my mint trade in. I then went down to Richmond and got an msrp deal and KBB for my trade.

I think all dealers have a slimy side to them. On my Trackhawk I made the deal via email and phone down to the finance rate. Filled out all the apps, signed agreement purchase order, etc. Drove down there from NJ and they tried increasing the finance rate 2 points. We went back and forth a few times until I walked out. Sales manager chased me to my truck and apologized saying we will make this right. Please come back inside. I did and they honored the deal we agreed to. Guess they thought they had me driving so far for the vehicle. So yea ... they can be slimy which is another reason I"m not paying above MSRP for anything.

Yikes! I have a TRX Hellcat order in with them and this has me worried. I read about the slimy financing tactic where they require you to run your credit from TRX forum when you come to pickup (even if you have a check!?). Some other reports mention a good experience if you are aware of these things before hand. Glad to read reports like this so I wouldn't be caught off guard after driving 6-7 hours to play games :poop:. I only picked them because of location but on second thought I should have went with Cummings in KY.

So far, they have been extremely responsive with updates and any questions I have. From TRX forum, I think they are attempting to clean up their image a bit and not be so pushy/slimy. Nonetheless, I will report back on forums my experience (there is an ongoing thread on TRX forum to capture feedback). Wish me luck!

Ummm. In 2022 when I ordered my JB Koons wanted 30k over sticker. Everyone defended Koons back then and said how great they were when I bitched about it.
Where are the Koons lovers now?

I inquired about the SRT 392 Durango for which they can do 5% below invoice. If I cannot find a Hellcat at or under MSRP I will probably jump on the 392. Wish I would have kept my 426 from my Ram, and dropped the stock 5.7 back in before selling. That motor was built right, and good for 1100hp+.

I will tell you my experience last fall with them We had ordered a 2022 Scat Pack, got on paper a decent deal, said financing with them wasn't required etc.

Car comes in, as they are getting it ready I told them I wanted them to give me their rate details so I could shop it with my credit union. So I finally get them to run the rates, comes back 3 percent higher then my credit union. I said ok, I need XYZ to give to my credit union and will be down with a certified check from the CU. Nope. They said they had never dealt with the credit union and refused to use them. So I asked about another bank I use. Nope same thing, never heard of them don't trust them.

Basically we went back and forth for 2 weeks and the only way they would agree to let me take the car was if I financed through them. So we walked, and they sat on that car for 3 months before they finally sold it.

OK, so you're not paying it. Now what?

This is just painful to read and hate to hear that. Here is the thread from TRX forum for reference: https://www.ram-trx.com/threads/koo...ad-of-the-experience.13566/page-7#post-294122 where a guy posted his experience live.

They also mention on the forum that financing is not required for their TRX deal here posted last Thursday https://www.ram-trx.com/threads/alert-2023-my-trx-to-close-at-end-of-month.15083/. I likely would have walked from the deal myself. However, I could easily refinance within the week at my credit union afterwards for a better rate. Begs the question, why do that to you unless they planned to just make more money on the car.

I have time until June to either buy off the lot or go completely different route. This would be a company car so I have some time. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Curious why you ask though. Would you pay 50k over sticker?

With the $450 cheaper doc fee and not near the amount of BS, Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, LA is a better deal IMO.

That’s why they whored out the TRX, so they could get the final year allocations and try to recoup the money.

I don’t blame them though, gotta find ways to make your money 🤷🏻‍♂️ Sucks for the consumer, but when have you walked into your local super market and tried to negotiate the price of goods?

Point well taken, but the only reason dealers are willing to discount the TRX's unlike the Challengers/Chargers is because there is more profit with the MSRP. The RAM trucks in large part are basically keeping Stellantis above water.
