There were some long threads on the topic of diff fluids. Someone
posted some actual test result data. The takeaway was:
It takes 1.16 qts
It must meet GL-5 spec
Recommends 75W85
The Mopar supplier is actually Castrol
It needs LSD additive, whether it comes with it or added separately.
Top brands were:
- AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-90
- Red Line Synthetic 75W-90 (or 75W-85 is fine)
- Castrol SYNTEC 75W-90
brands/fluids to avoid (they all failed the tests one way or another):
- Torco
- Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W-90
- Valvoline High Performance 80W-90
- GM Synthetic Axle 75W-90
- Mopar synthetic 75W-90 w/Mopar LS additive
- Pennzoil Gearplus 80W-90
- Mobil 1 Sythentic 75W-90
- Pennzoil Sythentic 75W-90
- Lucas 75/90 Synthetic
- Castrol Hypoy C 80W-90
- Valvoline SynPower 75W-90
For transmission fluid:
stock is Dexron III ATF (mopar ATF+4)
Tremec recommends Mobil 1 ATF full synthetic for the TR6060.
The full system is 4.2qts--you have to flush the aux cooler and cooler lines also.
Toddy (BBG) recommends frequent fluid changes on the M6:
- transmission every 3k
- diff every 4-5k
