they would have to up the trans and driveline too....

Dodge doesnt seem to change HP and up things...i think its going to be 707hp for 3 years no matter wha

when the 5.0 came out Dodge didnt up their 392 HP to get ahead....they were happy staying where they were and tying the 5.0 on the drag strip

Ford changes HP every year or every other year on the GT500's.....they are the only company i see who is willing to do it.

It took Dodge 4+ years to get the HC going....they are slow to move, slow to change....i dont see Dodge responding to anyone on a year to year basis
Chrysler never had to up the 6.4L to compete with the 5.0.........It always had more power and still does.......5.0=425 and 6.4=485.......The disadvantage was Price and that will always play a big part between the Mustang and Camaro........

Just read an article that GM is bringing to market the ZL2 camaro, with an lt6 motor,, 396 cid, and twin turbo, making 8 pounds of boost,,, my guess is that , one is a joke, or that there hunting our hellcat's...what do you forum members think,,I will get the name of the site posting it.
Can't wait to see the warranty exclusions on that...does not cover any engine damage occurring over 40 miles per hour, not responsible for loss of power after first quarter mile run, if tires are worn we will assume you have been racing and nothing is covered. LOL

I agree with everything you said but it lends to why they would make a 850hp engine and de tune it to 707. At almost no cost to them they can release a flash each year to top the gt500

that 5.0 425hp had the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as the 392 because it weighs less......and it was 470hp back then too..........Dodge should have done the 485hp upgrade in 2012 to get a bit ahead of the 5.0 instead of being the same 1/4 mile as a car -$15k

wasnt the 850 hp a rumor and not even real?

the trans cant handle 850hp
the driveshaft cant handle 708hp
the 275's for tires cant handle 300hp

The number was probably rumor who knows.
a beefed up drive shaft is easy to Redesign I hope happens no matter.
The tires I admit there's no excuse but they can fit a little bigger under there.
And the tranny I don't know what it's rated to take.
My hope is due to the hellcats popularity dodge does make an effort to stay on top. Which I think they will.

Ford and Chevy might eventually have an answer to the Challenger Hellcat, but what about the 4 door Charger Hellcat? There's nothing attractive about either car maker's sedan line up - let alone try to entice buyers with the idea of a sportier 700hp or 800hp version of those cars.

707 will be topped soon. Ford is going to started producing several high performance cars over the next couple of years. The next GT500 is going to be one of them. I am willing to bet that Ford will get 750HP from a VooDoo sourced boosted V8. It will be quicker and faster than the Hellcat. Dodge needs something that doesn't weigh as much as a 1/2 Ford F150. Imagine a Hellcat that doesn't weigh 4500bls. Another thought, Dodge has never been capable of keeping up with the times, they suck at competition. Their cars tend to become irrelevant after a few years and they don't respond or react like you wish they would. I love Chrysler, never bought anything but Chrysler, but they suck at competing.

I hope this comes out but its probably a april fools thing. I think that the car makers will just de tune the cars. put smaller T-bodys on there and get them to pass emissions. Look at the GT 500. you can add the ford racing t-body and JLT cold air and get something stupid like 50 hp. I can't remember the exact numbers. and you buy this t-body right at the dealer. I think it was a tune,t-body,cold air and upper pulley, off road Hpipe was something like 100 HP. manufactures are I think will be putting down the foundation letting the aftermarket do its thing. chevy and ford have been doing that for years. Dodge has been behind on this. Its just a matter of time before someone pulls out the HC ecm puts in a big stuff or pro efi and really test the limits.

Its obvious you live in a world of internet and magazine racing.. Dodge didnt do the upgrade on the 392, because it didnt have to. Stock for Stock, The 392 Challenger had the SS Camaro and the 5.0 Mustang covered..My old '12 392 Challenger ran 12.18 @113 with only drag radials, and I NEVER lost to a stock SS or 5.0 with drag radials..ever

stop quoting magazines and go to the track sometime..

CTS V 0-60 in 3.6 seconds.
I read in a 2014/2015 Motor Trend article that gave details on the newer CTS-V. And in that article they compared it to the then unreleased Charger Hellcat - which officially wasn't out yet, but they had all of the statistical data for the comparison. Bottom line is that the CTS-V failed miserably against the Charger Hellcat in power, performance, and in price.

Anyone familiar with Chevy will know that even if they had an 800 hp Camaro coming....it will be 3 years before it hits the market.

I'm sure someone will top 707 hp...eventually. I'm guessing Ford will be the first to take back the pony car hp title.
We have to remember, GM will not make a faster car than the Corvette. They never have and they never will. They won't piss off the 100's of 1000's of Vette owners.. Now there is talk of a Mid Engine Vette with 800 plus HP.. If that happens, than ya, we'll see a Camaro with Hellcat HP but until then, GM is content with the new Z06 Vette..
