So I was driving the other day and I was trying to have a little fun on the highway. I know If you hold the left paddle down, it automatically puts you in the best gear for the speed. Note I was doing about 60MPH on the highway.

I held the paddle down and the car downshifted to third, I accidentally hit the paddle again and it shifted to 2nd, which then caused then essentially caused the car to redline at over 6300 rpm.

I know it’s a rookie mistake, but I’m really nervous that I might have hurt something and won’t notice it until later down the line. I’m actually surprised it let me shift into the lower gear, in my scat it would say illegal shift. Keep in mind my charger HCWB is a ‘22 with just 2k miles.

Your car is and will be fine.

Once you see what drivers do to Hellcats on YouTube, and the cars survive fine, you lose the need to worry about what you asked about.

If you ever watch dyno videos you would see that they always exceed the redline on the dyno runs. No damage done unless you drive over redline for extended periods of time. So relax.

I retired from a major auto manufacturer. We would (and they still do) test engines randomly on a factory dyno running actually above labeled redline for hours. Then take them apart to check internals. Some we ran at high rpm for 40 hours! Yes! 40!! And no issues. You'll be fine.

Oh no... your engine is toast. I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands for $40k.

No worries. The 6.2 can handle it.
Do you still have the stock rev limiter?
I’m new to some of this stuff. But the rev limiter probably can be adjusted for more RPMs Or turned off. I’ll always keep the rev limiter In my cars. I think the stock limiter is a tad conservative. Not sure. Probably need a tune to do all that though.
