Do dealers know if they have an allocation for a HC? before the HC actually gets made? So I am the only person to order a HC from my dealer. Will the dealer know they have an allocation for one or find out once the VIN is issued for mine? I am guessing once my VIN is issued the dealer gets 1 allocation if they haven't already? Hope that makes sense?

Dealers know if they have allocation before even placing an order.

My understanding is an allocation is given if the dealer has an order in the system with a customer name on it...called a VON. There are requirement listed on this forum on how the dealers meet these requirements. Then comes the valued allocation Then comes scheduling, then the VIN or vise versa. VIN means there car will be built....this is a big step. You could still be waiting 3-4 months after you get a VIN. My advice...go to your local dealer, bypass the lot sales people and get to mgt in the back, such as the Fleet mgr, Gen Sales mrg or ownership. It worked for me You are where I was several weeks ago. It is confusing but now I know the process better. Got my VON yesterday, but my guy is now waiting for allocation. I expected delivery in July...maybe. PM me...I would be glad to help out. Hang in there. Your head will feel like it is ready to explode!!...lol

My dealer told me he had an allocation and would order me a car. He had already known that he could place and order. He told me that the allocations were earned based on sales performance and numbers in set time periods.

I can not believe there are dealers out there that would lie to a customer by taking an order and hope things would change with their ability to earn an allocation. Do they think the manufacturer will feel sorry for them and let them have it. It was very clearly outlined. These are very special cars and the manufacturer wants to reward the successful dealers with the ability to offer these cars.

If I was looking to start the process over, I would ask the dealer ( management or owner) if they had an allocation or not. Its yes or no and they know for certain if they have earned one or not. It is really not rocket science as to why most people hate to purchase cars.

yea, this is what my first dealer did... wanted 10 grand deposit for first slot promising me they had 2 allocations.. 126 days later with an untouched VON from 9/9 aand into the 3rd set of allocations, I woke up and found my car sitting on a lot.. my first "allocated" VON is still untouched to this day... don't believe a thing any dealer says..

They might not have an allocation then and there, but get one and maybe only one in the coming weeks. The owner of the dealership where I have my VON said he will get one in 30-60 days.I believe him (Oh Oh my god what have I done..lol). My dealer is local and I just walk on back to the fleet mgrs office. Everyone there knows me and refers to me as the Hellcat guy.

Well, I talked to my Dealer and they assured me they have allocation for 1 Challenger and 1 Charger HC. I trust them and they asked for no money down and when I originally placed the order I asked how much out the door is this gonna cost me and their response was "MSRP". These guys are awesome I even trust them to work on my current Charger. I don't know why I freaked out these guys have been nothing but honest and up front with me since day one.

Sounds like you are doing well. If there is no one in front of you on a list and your dealer has an open allocation...at MSRP with 0 money down....jump on this quick!!!!! Get your VON, dealer applies allocation to your VON, then it should go into a build schedule and then VIN. You will be half way there. Now lets hope any options your chose, were not on restriction/short supply. Your dealer can tell you if any are. They get this info from FCA almost daily.Good Job!!

THANKS! Very Excited. Yeah the more I read on this website the more i realize just how blessed I am to have the relationship I have with my Dealer. I already have my VON, now just waiting for the VIN. There is no one in front of me. My neighbor has the allocation for the Challenger (B5 Blue). What is up with the restrictions you speak of? FCA?

Chris, FCA is Fiat Chrysler America. Just a fancy name for Dodge corporate. Restrictions are optional items which may be in short supply because of unanticipated demand. For instance, I hear that Laguna leather is being"rationed/restricted" which could slow your build . I ordered mine with Ivory white and A8. Thats it...all else was std equip. Many std items are used on other challenger models as upgrades so supply is more available. The more options/upgrades to add, %'s say one of these restrictions could trip you up. For me, the more simplistic route is what I chose.for a car that I will be very happy with. Others want theirs loaded...thats OK, but might affect delivery times..Good Luck my friend!
