Noticed the below today on my 2018. The hood... Wtf?!?!

UPDATE 6/3/2021:
Update: I am getting a new hood.

After dealing with a couple very unfriendly and anything but helpful folks @ the SRT team in customer service, I have been dealing with a a wonderfully pleasant and helpful woman there.

It started with many cases being being entered & all were closed & the wrong dealer listed & no info on the hood issue being entered. Not sure how or why that happened, but this lady was able to wade through all that bs & get things down the right path so far.

Hi,

Hoods are Aluminum, so no rust, potentially corrosion, take it in as should be covered unless you have over 100,000 miles or boughtit used, you will likely get a new hood as like the steel parts they probably don't coat the prior to assembly only afterwards which leaves metal to metal and once the paint cracks at lip moisture gets in and you get issues.

Good luck, let us all know what becomes of it.

Regards,
Jim

Bought it new and it only has 22,000 mi on it so clearly this should not be an issue. I'm going to contact Dodge.

Prob a chip in the paint which let water in causing the paint to separate from the hood. Highly doubt it’s corrosion. I also highly doubt they’ll warranty it if that is what happened. I hope they do though, I’ve been reading other posts on this exact issue on the leading edges of some of these hoods in the last few days.

This isn’t a paint chip that leads to this. It’s happening across the board with aluminum panels. Had this happen on a Ford hood, also a Jeep hood, now the new caravan I drive for work already has a giant bubble just like yours on leading edge. Hope you have better luck than I had trying to get anything done.

My 2015 charger hellcat never had this happen or my wife’s Durango SRT. Hope my Trackhawk doesn’t develop it either. Has something to do with the prep at the factory from what a few body shops have told me

Lovely QC Dodge has.
I'm ready for a fight if they want to fight me on making this right.

Who makes a proper fitting carbon hood for the Charger? :D

So no response from the Dodge rep on this forum. That's great service for you right there. Customer care just told me they're closing my case. Now keep in mind they refused to resolve it. Looks like I might not be buying this car now after all. I'm at the end of my lease. If this is how they're going to treat me and this is the build quality, they can have this pile of hot garbage back
@DodgeCares
Clearly, Dodge does NOT care...

Hi NeverEnough,
We are happy to reopen the case. However, to reopen your case you must first visit a dealer for a diagnosis.
