hello everybody, We all know Ron is the big dog and blazes the way for all of us SS owners....but I am
just curious as to what everybody is running at the drags & using the cars as intended.
I got my car May 6th, raced it first time on May 12th, and ran a 12.62 & a 12.57 with hot temps & 540 miles on the clock.
I did have my poverty stars on the front, but then RACED it a week or so later with the fat Nittos all around & went 10.41.
Have probably put about 25 total passes on the car in mostly above 85* weather with humid conditions and
most all times have been right around [email protected] Best 60fts on the factory tires have been 1.47-1.52s.
I am really looking forward to my kind of weather.... in the high 40s-50s...with good air, as I am all about the timeslips.
The thing is I love this car...and have still been running it in hot summer months, as it is so consistent & is a great car.
I have installed the best rear brace, a catch can, and recently purchased some new M/T ET Rs. (not on yet)
They are a little shorter but wider....so I am slightly worried....but should be a lot stickier than the factory drag radials.
I did get factory DEMON front skinnies (painted them to match) and nice M/T tires...wanted that factory look.
Thus far since my track doesn't run cars through efficiently I have few passes to experiment & try different things.
Really looking forward to trying the torque reserve launches, as for now I simply flat punch it to the floor on last yellow.
I am hoping for realistic 10.teens @ 134 mph timeslips as I race at Cecil County in the cooler temps & weather.
If you can't hook at Cecil...you can't hook. Love this track, and downhill staging lanes.....
Will I MOD the car.... ? Believe me I want to, but I went down that slippery slope with my prior 16 HC Charger.
You need unlocked computer to tune, you need good tune, modify with any boost increases will need injectors, possible
fuel pump upgrades, risk warranty....and just add lots of stress to the mix.
Sure I would love to get the car to easy [email protected] . . . but it is also neat to say the car is bone stock from factory too.
I do have the rear seat delete kit....as I think it looks cool & clean and more factory drag racer like.
I just installed a 180* stat, & bought spacers & charger blanket material, and gonna pull the blower in the next few days. My reasoning is that should really help the IATs, & get a cooler charge through the engine & looks legit on paper.
Currently my drag procedure is, get to track, ice intake, try to keep car as cool as I can although can't help heating up in lanes. Then I try to get the race pages gauge screens up, put it in track mode across the board, go around the water, do a 4-6 second 1st-3rd gear burnout. next shallow stage, and flat punch on the last yellow... My car however, does short shift 2nd no matter what I do before 5k rpms. I do feel with just a slight tuning & having shift points raised, the timeslips would benefit greatly!
..BUT, as you know that is a lot of money just to tweak the car slightly and most likely VOID the warranty.
If I knew for sure.. it would run consistent 9.7s .. I would probably jump in. Stressful worrying about it.
well enough of my rattling on... any Super Stockers drag their cars regularly?
