Any Borla Tech's on the site?

On Thursday I had the Borla ATAK exhaust installed. (Sounds amazing!)

However, after driving about 10-15 miles my MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) came on. I called & spoke with Steve in Tech support and he said this is not an uncommon occurrence with Mopar. He said that the shop needs to unhook the simulator sensors and wait for 30 seconds, then plug them back in, then hit the run/start button and let that go for 2 minutes before cranking the car up. He said that the computer has to learn the new exhaust.

The shop did that, and again no MIL until after 15 miles or so, then it came back on. Steve had said this may happen, and if it did it would take 20-25 more starts & driving for it to go away.

Can anyone confirm that it will go away, I've started it & driven it at least 10 times now, each time 5-10 miles. The light is constantly on, but not flashing. I just don't want this light on for the duration and am looking for any suggestions.

I do not have a code clearer, should I get one & be clearing the code after each drive?

Any support on this issue would be welcomed.

Cockeyed - can you post a link to the ones you installed?
I hope so too!

welp, exhaust shop received the unit and installed it this morning. Realized that they sent the unit with the valves, instead of the ones without. So needless to say, the system is much quieter...lol but nice and deep. check engine light still shining.....

Borla will send the correct unit without the valves soon. Was told to drive the car for a couple days first to see if the CEL will go away. (i followed your steps on pushing the button, waiting for 30 seconds, pushing again, wait for a minute, and start the car)

Borla ATAK was installed, not sure if that's what you meant.

Lucky bastid! :)

It'll come back if you swap out those mids...what's the cold start sound like?

Cold start just sounds deeper...

CEL came back on again. I think the car still needs to learn it more? Last night it sounded like the valves were stuck open..

I'll drive it a couple more days.

Well that sucks, hopefully it will learn like Borla says, but I'll be honest, the Level 3 SRT Tech told me that it should be automatic, so I'm guessing that the valves aren't working properly, hopefully when you get the corrected mids all will be well. Talk with Steve, he was very helpful and expedited my shipment, of course I was very nice & cordial with him... :)

Oh yeah, smoked a 2016 AWD Porsche on Saturday night, he went flying by and I walked the dog in rapid fashion! :)
Cockeyed when you installed the quad tips did they clamp on or did you have to weld them on?
I order me a set just trying to see how I am going to have to install them (me or a shop no welding machine at home)

We had to cut approximately 3/4" off the exhaust to make them fit under the rear fascia without them sticking out way to far. Afterwards they put the clamp on and a tack weld for good measure, it was done by a Muffler Shop and the weld was their recommendation.
Cockeyed I got these tips in about week or so ago
I got by a muffler shop this past weekend without moving the muffler it looks like these will stick out about 2 inches past the fascia this would be cutting the base of the tips down some (as much as the muffler shop thinks they can and still install them) it did not look like there was much that could be cut off the mufflers themselves
I have a 2016 Challenger that I am wanting to install these on what year is yours?
Can you send/post some pictures of how far yours are sticking out? Side shot or looking down

I have the Borla ATAK exhaust, the had to cut about 1" off the exhaust, not the tips. I thought I had a side view pic, let me take one this afternoon when I get home.

I have the factory exhaust still under the car I am guessing this is part of my problem the muffler shop wanted to move the mufflers back to make it come out right
With putting the Borla ATAK exhaust on the car does that void any of the factory warranty?

No, and it sounds amazing. I have my entire stock exhaust ready to go back on if I ever sell it.
