They are cool cars... I nearly bought a wagon, but wasn't impressed with the test drive. The coupe and sedan versions I have been in seemed to handle much better (maybe just in my head). Make sure you get the Recaro seats though...

The traction control kicks in abruptly amd cuts power and it falls on its face....just like my C6s did. The auto tranny shifts too slow for my taste as well.

MPGs are horrible....not a big deal, but it has a small tank... You are looking at 200 to 250 miles per tank.

If you get one, manual tranny and Recaro seats.

I had a black diamond edition sedan. It was an ok car. I had it for about 6 months and bought a alpine edition SRT8 jeep. I now have the 15 hellcat charger and it's NOTHING like a ctsv. WAIT for the hellcat it's worth it!!!!!

Had the current cts-v for about 2 years. That's a long time for me in car years, but I replaced it with an ATS which was much more entertaining to drive under 50mph. My current charger cat is much more entertaining at any speed and the uconnect is far superior to the CUE system. The caddy is too insulated and road feel is limited. The cat IMHO is much superior car even if they had the same hp. The dodge brand is like the Rodney Dangerfield of auto brands...... It just doesn't get much respect except from people in the know.

I have exactly the same history. I liked the ATS over my CTS-V because the ATS drove like a German car, tight and crisp (with hellacious under steer). My CTS-V drove like a fast luxury car with rattles and overly insulated interior.
Wait for the hellcat. It drives like a racecar. It sounds like a racecar. It makes you feel like a pro. At 600 miles, I'm more in tune with my charger HC than any other car I've owned.

What? You are surpassing 200-250/tank in your HC? Which one of us is doing it wrong? ;)
See my sig... I don't have my HC yet. Should be here later this month....

I have a 50+ mile highway commute round trip. I should easily be able to get 15 mpg average and get me through the week with one tank of gas. Highway mileage on the CTS-V is 17 or 18 mpg's... the HC is rated at 22 mpg's with a larger tank.

I'm not buying this car for gas mileage, but I also don't want to get gas twice a week... that's annoying. One of the reasons I don't drive my Jeep as a daily, although I have been able to get me through the week on one tank (20 gallons @ 13 mpg average w/ 3.92 gears and AWD).

I recently sold my 2012 CTSV coupe for the new HC Charger. Frankly I loved the V and if Chrysler did not build the Charger HC I would still own the V. If I compare it to the Charger the V is a better handling car and the overall quality of the V is better. The V is fast but no match for the Hellcat. The auto trans in the V sucks and Chrysler did a way better job on the 8 speed. Shifts are quicker and crisper on the Cat. Wait for the Hellcat it is an amazing car and well worth the wait.

I currently have a 2011 CTS-V A6 sedan and although I'm still yearning for my Hellcat I have no complaints on keeping it. They have a fairly stout drivetrain and its easy to increase horsepower with a few bolt-ons, interior the Recaros are nice and comfy once you dialed them in. It's 2nd gen platform is nearly 5 years long in the tooth but the 3rd gen CTS-V will have newer technological advancement in it's drivetrain with a better quicker shifting tranny. Of course if you buy a 2009-2015 used you'll save thousands over a Hellcat and have plenty of mod money to throw at it if 556 hp isn't enough. It still ain't no Hellcat but you can still have some fun with it. If I were you I'd wait for the Hellcat since it's currently all the rage.

I bought a 13 charger 392 over the V a while back for multiple reason.
1. V maybe faster but the 392 felt faster which means its more fun
2. V's interior is compact but the 392 much roomier for 4
3. V's interior Electronics are outdated Uconnect is way better
4. V's mpg is horrible for a car thats not exciting
Conclusion wait for the Hellcat its better

I was able to achieve over 30mpg within 45 to 55mph in 8th gear at around 1000rpm . I averaged a combined 20mpg but thats with ecomode and being really careful as its easy to see your average drop instantly . Right now im at 14 average with only city driving
