Good afternoon cat family just wanted to get a sense of as many of you on here. Anyone like me who bought their car just to enjoy the every second of it and not worrying about it being the fast car out there. I hear a lot of carp about the hellcat not being the fastest nor dominant car on the road. But was it ever really? As one else like me?

Its been the fastest in a straight line for a while, but only just.... and really, when the cars are made equivalent, it's often not the fastest...

To me, enjoy what ya love and say screw it :D

It's like I harp on here a lot about... sure, on the internet, there are faster cars everywhere. Lucid Airs, Tesla Model S Plaids, Lamborghini Murcielagos, Ferrari 488s and McLaren 720s. Know how many of these I've seen on the street? Not a single one.

The Hellcat is borderline affordable. If someone were to have gotten a '16-'19 barebones, no options, they could have gotten into one for under $55k. Average price on one is a shade above $70k though, as most of us tend to like our expensive cars to be kitted out slightly above an SXT in look and feel. Even at 70-80k, the Hellcat is still a performance value. It's powerful, intimidating, and unlike these other mythical internet beasts that are only made in the hundreds to couple thousands per year... the Hellcat is common enough to have a reputation more rooted in reality than in internet fanboism.

Can things be made to go as fast/faster for cheaper? Yes

Can your car get beat by a lot of stuff rolling off the showroom floor today? Yes

Should any of that change your outlook on YOUR car? No. Not at all.

Everyone can say they have a favorite car or would rather have this or that, all their words always went in one ear and out the other because at the end of the day, I got to drive/own one of the best cars ever made IMO and I didn't regret a single second (ok maybe when I did the spark plugs but...fck that job)

If a supercharger whine and someone giving your car a thumbs up going down the road doesn't put a smile on your face I don't know why would anyone want one of these vehicles .
Agreed….if I had a dollar for every time a fender hanger whipped out a phone for a vid/pic

There's more, camaro zl1, gt500, m5, m8, e63, rs7... list goes on and on

There are even more cars that can beat it on the street, but can't we just enjoy it for what it is?

It's raw power with no awd and a great exhaust at a very affordable price .... well before they went wb & redeye, those push up the price a bit more. Still the best bang for the buck. This is one of the last large displacement blown engines we may ever see.

Whether you're using it as a full on race car, or a longer range GT cruiser, the Hellcat always starts a conversation. I like that feature! 😎(y)

I also like the ability to END a conversation with a twitch of the right pedal. 😜

Shoot, I bought mine for the comfort and luxury it offered without losing the fun factor. True story, my first drive in one was at a Dodge dealership. Pulled up in my Viper and said I want something that gets me as excited as that car but I can take my family in. They handed me the red key and said "have fun". It was an auto so didn't buy that one but it got me hooked and I shortly later got my M6. Love it but do wish it was a WB but since Dodge won't sell me a new one I'm happy loving what I have now.

Most of those cars you listed are going to fall within the driver's race category. Both the ZL1 and the GT500 can beat a Hellcat. It just depends on who makes the mistake first. Theorycraft says GT500 vs. Hellcat = loss for the Hellcat, 100% chance. The reality is that a Redeye can pull within the GT500's factory 1/4mi time by within .15, mathematically speaking. Having owned lots of S550s, I know where the theorycraft fails in this example. The Mustang chassis (and the GT500), is imprecise at launch. The GT500 handles it a little better, but it's still very light in the rear like every Mustang since the dawn of time. If the driver isn't good, he'll blow the tires off or get loose inside the 60ft. But, in a science vaccuum, yes, GT500 wins. If the GT500 is driven perfectly, it wins.

But that's the thing about drag racing, it rarely goes perfectly and why street cars pitted within .5 of one another can be a very good race on any given day.
