Hello,

Was checking if anyone has ever used EBC brake pads on their Hellcat. I literally just won an EBC vendor giveaway on another Challenger forum. They are sending me a set of any EBC pad offering. I remember from decades ago that they had different colors for different situations. From all the reading that I've absorbed from the forums, I don't recall anyone mentioning EBC when talking about brake pads.
Even if you don't have Hellcat experience, do you have other vehicle experience or suggestions? I tried to go their website and it's full of cookies and won't allow you to see anything unless you accept them. To be honest, if they aren't up to snuff like the Brembo's, than I probably wouldn't even put them on.

Believe EBC comes out of the UK. There's another thread here about Yellow EBCs, so do a Search.

It's best to decide how you are gonna drive and then choose a pad that is designed to fit that driving style. However, one important fact that few here discuss is what is the pad compound, i.e. Semi-Met, High Semi-Met, Hybrid, Organic or Ceramic. The reason this is important is metallic pads and some hybrids can get into the rotor, wear it and groove it. Organics and Ceramics typically are very kind to rotors and a high-end Ceramic can out perform many semi-mets and hybrids. It's not enough to buy a pad for a driving style; it's best to know the compound as well.

Unfortunately, brake pad manufacturers don't usually publish brake torque specs, which is, the amount of brake pedal pressure that yields how much brake torque at the rotor. This info would help us all choose better pads for our individual use.

Having said all this, many of us here have installed Power Stop Z26 Ceramic Pads on their vehicles. In my case, I did all 4 at the same time. These Ceramic Pads have great brake torque with little pedal input and are very kind to rotors and don't coat the wheels with brake dust. However, many here say these pads don't do well on a track, and I don't track so I cannot say. But then there are those that overuse brakes at the track, so....

Also, no matter what pad you chose, don't mix compounds. Lubricate all steel plate contact points and on top of the brake shim with a high-temp silicone brake lube. Remove the paint from the sides of all friction pucks to prevent low-speed brake noise. And unless you are installing the new pads at the track, forget about "bedding" pads... drive the new pads for a couple of hundred miles normally and the pads will be burnished to the rotor's mirror finish for maximum brake torque. Excess heat too quickly ruins brake jobs.

I'm not a fan of 100% ceramic pads on a daily driver. Yes, they run clean. However, I do not enjoy the feel of them with normal driving. There's a reason all of the big manufacturers use metallic pads on production vehicles. The perform great, and feel great. Keep in mind good metallic pads cost more than ceramics as well.

The technology in a high-end, high-friction ceramic pad far out performs a semi-met on may levels.

What ceramic did you not like?

I tried the “Redstuff” pads and had a terrible experience with them. Squealed like a banshee and EBC would do nothing to return or replace. They also don’t tell you, until you receive them and read the box, that they will do nothing in terms of returns unless you put 1,000 miles on them first! What a crock.

I eventually went with Stop Tech “street” pads and am real happy with them. All the OE Brembo bite with less dust.

Bedding brakes pads on a street driven car is an absolute waste of time, the normal light pressures of street driving will wear away the thin coating of brake material you are trying to coat rotor with. But hey read the internet I'm sure all the experts will tell you how important "bedding" brake pads are without actually understanding the process and how it works.

I also put powerstop ceramic pads on the day I brought my new RE home. I had a 2018 HC prior and never changed the brembo pads. Well....I really do not care for the feel of the ceramic on the street especially when hitting the brakes hard from about 120. The brembos felt safe and harder stopping when doing that. However, I could not bear the thought of all the brake dust on my new rims. It permanently stained the rims on my 2018 and I cleaned the dust off them like every other day.
So its a mixed feeling. I sure do love seeing my rims clean all the time. But the brembos perform better and smoother. Pick your poison.....

I'm with you on the brake dust thing....I'm not a fan of power stop pads however, as they are on the extreme cheap end of brake pads and performance. I know a lot of people like them, and thats fine. You just wont catch me using them. I ordered a pair of project mu to try those out...not cheap, coming from japan, and taking forever to get here. I'm sure they are on a boat stuck out to sea waiting to get into long beach harbor

Agreed. Powerstop pads are garbage.
I went with G-LOC R6. F: GP1149 R: GP1053
You got part numbers for the Project MU pads?

Well this is odd... OP's post is an exact, word for word, copy of a post I made and yet another forum almost 2 months ago.

I won them and have already received a set of Yellow Stuff's that are still sitting in the box. Still don't know what I'm going to do when I need to change out my pads.

Early on EBC pads were primarily a motorcycle product. When they started to market to the sport compact crowd for cars the early reviews were not good...I hope they have reformulated to maintain consistent performance under the stress of cars vs 2 wheels..

OK so now it's my turn. I just won a set on that forum too lol. Wondering if their red pads are similar to the PStop ceramics that I currently use and enjoy. No track for me so no need for dirty wheels. Havent seen a direct comparison between the two different brand ceramics.
