This sounds dumb, but all of a sudden my Super Stock won’t let me fill it up. Same gas stations, and same pumps, but I can barely get more than a gallon in before it stops and starts to overfill. It shows I have right at 3/4 of a tank, and no go. Anyone had this issue?

With a couple of other cars (not Dodges) I had to resort to turning the pump nozzle nearly 180 degrees to prevent premature nozzle shut off.

But with my cars before or since nope. And this includes my 2018 Scat Pack, 2018 Hellcat, and my 2020 Scat Pack (and my 2020 M-B van).

Are you inserting the nozzle all the way into the filler tube? The nozzle has to open a flap that prevents fuel possibly leaking out with a rollover.

I honestly don’t know - I am doing nothing different than I have for the entire year I’ve owned the car and all of a sudden I can’t fill it up. The only thing that has changed is the addition of the Demon air-grabber filter. Otherwise literally nothing has changed. Very odd!

Car fuel vapor recovery systems are a bit of a mystery to me being I'm not a professional car tech but I'd put the factory air filter/box/hardware back on the car and be sure all the hoses/wiring connectors are good and secure.

As fuel is added an air space (slight dome usually) at the top of the tank is there to allow air, well, really fuel vapor, as the fuel level increases to flow out of the top of the tank to the canister. If this line is blocked with a valve that is signaled closed or failing to get signaled to open this can interfere with the proper filling of the tank. Fuel backs up the filler neck and the nozzle shuts off, as it should.

Put the car back to stock and see if the behavior is still present.

Might mention if you take the car in for this problem with anything but factory air filter/box/hardware present a warranty claim may be denied.

Thanks for the suggestions. Interestingly enough, I had the dealer install the air-grabber so as to maintain warranty. I will get it back to stock and see if the reduction of said variable offers any insight. If not, then I guess off to the dealer…again :(

On the 2019 Redeye I had when I went to pick it up the salesman said he couldn't give me a fill up. Saying that at about 1/2 tank it just stopped fueling up. The following week it was in the shop to get checked out. It was found (as I was told) the tank vent was painted over and wouldn't allow any air to escape. After I picked it up it seemed fine. Four days later it was a no start in my driveway back to the shop 4 days later, embarrassing as some neighbors saw the towing being done. And of course, I was questioned as to why it being new and all. After the tank was removed, it was found to have a fuel line issue and faulty fuel pump. Parts were an issue at the time, so I waited a few weeks for the new tank. A year and a half later I opted for a new 2021 S.S. but that was not with issues of its own. I started to notice an oil leak in my driveway and garage That one had shop time in 2 days. The oil cooler blew a seam and lubricated the whole undercarriage as well. Love the S.S. just that in back of my mind I always have that fear......"What's Next"?????????????

The air grabber is not going to do anything to prevent the fuel tank from working properly.

seriously, Id suspect the rollover valve is stuck, it can happen if the car was ever filled to the brim with gas.
far as I know its down by the actual tank, meaning the filler tube could now be holding the +/- 1 gal of fuel your able to put in, before the gas pump nozzle receives the backflow from the full fuel fill tube and shuts off.
It maybe a simple fix of pushing it back into proper position via a heavy cable / wire.

my dad had a ZR-1 that started running like crap all of a sudden every now and then. Dealer couldn't figure it out. Had something to do with the gas tank venting... the culprit was a locking gas cap that had been put on.
Yikes, I put a lock cap on mine. No issues filling up here on my challenger.

Usually it’s a retarded pump. The few gas stations I go to have particularly offensive pumps that just click off after I lock them on. I usually have to reseat the nozzle in the fill tube a time or two sometimes even pulling it out a hair to get it to stay on.

I’ve had toeither jam it in and hold it, or pull it out slightly to get it to stay on in other cars. Usually it’s a pump problem. ButI’m your case it sounds like a tank/ feed issue.

only car I had over fill on me was my old deville after doing the gas tank. Poor fill tube seal wasn’t really the same after replacing the tank and occasionally it’ll over fill and DUMPgas all over the floor at the gas station. Began paying attention to exactly how much I expected to go in to avoid that in the future. Hahahahahaha

I had this on my 04 GTO and it apparently was a common problem with the GTO, unfortunately with no solution. It would seem to get into moods where it would cut off at about 2/3 full, but not all the time. Seemed to be a poor venting issue. Maybe ¾ the time you could slowly force fill the rest. I have not had any probs with the HC.
