I read here where many are complaining about gas prices but at what point does the typical Hellcat owner stop driving his/her car?

I am in a unique position where, even if the Hellcat will be my daily driver once received, my commute time to work is dependent on how many stubborn dogs are sitting int he hallway demanding my attention.

But what about the person who cannot afford two vehicles or not able to work from home and need to pay $6 / gal for a 15 mpg car?

Will the used Hellcat market become saturated?

What about WHEN the highest ever gas prices start effecting deliver of Amazon to the home? Will people begin to drive to Wal Mart and buy in person?

Oh, and unless you live on a farm, your food prices are about to get a BIG hit too. Simple economics which at some point, will break the economy for the average and just about average wage earning households.

Interesting times indeed.

Never, if the price of a gallon of gas prevents you from driving a car that costs upwards of 90-100k then you really can't afford the car in the first place and should sell now while the market is high and buy something you can actually afford.

That is a matter of opinion. In my opinion, if a person needs to finance a $80K+ car, that person doesn't know how to set personal financial limits. That is; I saved the monthly payment for the last six years and hence, unless interest is at 0% I will not finance. But - to each their own.

At a certain point, anyone with a Hellcat, TRX, Raptor, or other vehicle which averages 15 mpg or less, people will not be able to afford to drive to work, much less to go out dining.

Then what happens to the economy?

First the glut of those used vehicles on the used car market followed by the higher mpg cars going for a premium, public transportation being used more or, becomes subsidized by the government and free to the public (and then we would be beholden to the government to move around).

I also suffer from the occasional two-dog pile up in the hallway that occasionally delays my way in the office. lol Lucky bastards!

I have several cars like many of the folks on here. Actually drive a Smart car around town and to the gym.. Lots of folks thought it was funny when I bought it.. So did I. Several have now offered to buy or rent it because their cars are costing a fortune to get to work.

See I already dont think daily driving a Hellcat makes economical sense, now or before or in your scenario, much like you dont think financing one does. But I disagree that eventually these owners wont be able to go out to dinner in one. That isnt usually a road trip and is a far cry from being a DD. I dont think the majority of Hellcat owners will ever really say "enough is enough" due to the sheer fun factor. Some will stop daily driving them but I think that's about it. Most of us would pay $20/gal to drive one, we just wouldnt pay that to sit in rush hour traffic in them.

I was just about to throw the $20 dollar a gallon response too haha. It’s not my daily so it makes no major difference to me other than I would just have to budget more for gas come road trip / vacation time. Otherwise a tank will last me two or three weeks sometimes so I don’t really notice the extra 10-20 dollars it would take to fill it.

Damn, I didn't know it was a problem until now. So if I have a Hellcat and a Redeye I must really have a problem. Thank God the wife has a Durango or I might hauled away. Wait a minute. That Durango burns more gas then the Hellcat and the Redeye. I guess I'm screwed :)

Like????? Some of us don't have Mommy and Daddy buying us useless vehicles to satisfy our inner p..... shortcomings............... SERIOUSLY 😁 ...It's my only car and DD also. Fortunately, I get better mileage than that and burn E-15, 88-octane which is the cheapest. It can't get too much for me. TRUCK ON ROSS!!!!!!!!!!

This type of mentality that seems to be growing around here is actually the biggest problem I'm starting to see with this site as it seems everyone here assume people have paid $90K-$100K for their car because that is what 21+ cars look like. Most people here paid in the $60's for their cars or even less (used). It's only those buying cars in 2021+ that have paid stupid money for this platform, IMHO. Their are also A LOT of people that have bought used Hellcats for sup $50K (myself included). Not everyone is buying or bought a brand new loaded to the teeth RE, Jailbreak's, SS. When you start looking at things in a more realistic light you'll quickly notice their are a lot of people that are more price conscious than you may think. I myself feel lucky and blessed that I can afford to keep driving my car at current gas prices on up but also realize not everyone is as fortunate.

But you have to be realistic. A lot of people on this forum bought their car for far less than current MSRP not to mention when you could easily get gas sub $3 a gallon. If that same person is DD these cars (again a large percentage of the HC & 392 population) that extra $200-$300 month can be a pretty big hit on top of the other inflationary items.

I myself put the limit at about $5 a gallon before my HC becomes the preferred car for driving and I go back to one of my other cars for running errands. At that point my HC becomes a nice weekend go out and have some fun car.

It would have to be obscenely high, like $15+ a gallon before most hellcat owners would probably bail on the car...and at that price society would collapse so there's not much use for a hellcat in the apocalypse anyways
A mad max hellcat would rule the wasteland.

Depends in your financial situation. I could afford to pay $20 per gallon but I wouldn't like it too much.
